Tarike “Ty” Adams enters his third season as an assistant coach with the Colorado College men’s basketball program. His responsibilities include recruiting, player development, scouting reports, scheduling, and team logistics.

Previously, Adams spent 11 years coaching high school girls at Falcon HS in Colorado. During his tenure as head coach, Adams’ teams were perennial state qualifiers, and led the program to their best season in history during the 2020-21 season with a 15-2 record and 10-0 in conference play; earning a trip to the Great 8. He was named the Conference Coach of the Year 2020-21.

Prior to coaching, Adams served 20 years in the United States Air Force where he played 12 years as part of the base team(s), competing against collegiate level athletes. Adams attended Christopher Newport College where was a member of the Track and Field team in 1992-93, prior to joining the Air Force.

Adams earned his master’s degree in Adult Education and Training, and a bachelor’s in Management.

Adams and his wife Kendra are proud parents of three children, Khiya, Jade, and Tarike II. Adams coached both of his daughters, Khiya and Jade in high school, and they both went on to play Division II basketball at CSU-Pueblo. His son also attended Otero JC and was a member of the basketball team.
