Tim DeJohn is entering his third season as volunteer assistant baseball coach under Justin Blood in 2018. He primarily works with the overall team defense, specializing in infield defense.

In 2017 the Hawks set the program record for the fewest errors in a season, with 45, and the team’s No. 1 all-time fielding percentage (.975), topping the team’s previous record of .974, set in 2016. The Hawks ranked No. 48 overall in the nation that year, also leading the America East Conference in double plays, and Hartford ranked No. 50 nationally in fielding percentage in 2017.

Three of the Hawks' four starting infielders also achieved career-high fielding percentages during DeJohn's first year, led by first baseman David MacKinnon (.993), shortstop Ben Bengtson (.955) and third baseman TJ Ward (.944). MacKinnon collected an armful of individual awards in 2016, including America East Player of the Year, All-Conference First Team, All-New England Second Team and All-Region First Team. In 2017 MacKinnon set the Hawks’ single-season fielding percentage at .998, committing just one error in 461 chances.

In 2016, Hartford finished second in program history with 1,413 putouts and committed the third-fewest errors (53) in a single season.

DeJohn came to Hartford after working as the associate head coach at Southington (Conn.) High School, with responsibilities as the infield, first base, and catchers coach.

In his five seasons at Southington, DeJohn helped lead the team to four CCC Conference Championships, five consecutive State Semi-Finals appearances, and three State Finals appearances in 2011, 2013, and 2014. The program achieved a .760 winning percentage, while producing 20 collegiate players and two Major League Baseball draft picks.

Tim began his high school coaching experience when he took an assistant coaching position at Plainville (Conn.) High School for three seasons. There he helped lead the squad to a State Championship and the number one overall ranking, in 2008. As a head coach, DeJohn led the Plainville Junior League team to a State Championship and an appearance in the 2008 Eastern Regionals. During the summer, he serves as a head coach for the Team Connecticut Baseball organization.

After a four-year playing career at Western Connecticut State University which saw him place second all-time in number of games pitched in a single season (20 appearances in 2006), DeJohn served as an assistant coach in the Spring of 2007.

DeJohn is a graduate of Western Connecticut State University with a B.S. in History, and he earned his M.A. in Education from the University of Bridgeport.
