Short comes to Tallahassee State College after spending the previous two seasons at Chipola College in Marianna, Florida. During his tenure with the Indians, he helped lead the program to back-to-back Panhandle Conference Championships, a Region 8 Gulf Atlantic District Championship in his second season, and a No. 5 national ranking. Chipola compiled a 50-16 overall record during his two years on staff, while seven student-athletes signed with NCAA Division I programs.
Prior to Chipola, Short served as an assistant coach at Jones College, where he helped guide the Bobcats to a 27-7 record and championships in the MACCC, NJCAA Region 23, and Gulf District. Earning the No. 18 seed, Jones College made its first appearance in the NJCAA Tournament in Hutchinson, Kansas, since 2017 before falling to No. 15 seed Panola College in the opening round.
Prior to Jones, Short was a graduate assistant at his alma mater, University of Mobile (2022–23), and a graduate assistant at Central Methodist University (2021–22).
Short was a three-year starter and two-time team captain at Mobile from 2017–21, where he holds single-season school records in three-point percentage (45.5) and made three-pointers per game (3.2). He was also a three-time member of the Southern States Athletic Conference All-Academic Team during his career with the Rams. He graduated from the University of Mobile with a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology & Exercise Science.
A native of Pensacola, Short prepped at Pace High School in Pace.
