Tyron Terry - Camp Director

Tyron Terry is an experienced trainer and coach and has been involved with the sport of basketball for over 25 years. As a player at Valley City High School in North Dakota, Terry led the Hi-Liners to back-to-back state tournament appearances, was an all-state selection his junior and senior seasons and was named North Dakota Mr. Basketball in 2000.

After graduation, he continued his career, playing two years at North Dakota State University and two years at Valley City State University, where he was named an all-conference performer in the Dakota Athletic Conference in 2004-05.

Terry has been training and coaching youth programs in Elk River and surrounding areas the past few years, forming Mr. Basketball Academy in 2019. In addition to individual and group training, Terry has worked with a number of youth traveling programs as a coach and served as a Varsity Assistant and JV coach at Spectrum High School. Last year, Terry was the head boys’ basketball coach at Valley City High School before accepting to become the head girls’ basketball coach at Bismarck St. Mary’s Central High School this year.

Terry is married to wife Heidi and has seven children. His eldest son, Tyrell, was the 31st selection in the 2020 NBA Draft by the Dallas Mavericks and is currently in his rookie season.

Terry also formed the Tyshon Terry Foundation in honor of his late son that unexpectedly passed away in 2018. The mission of this initiative is to change inequality and injustice through education of life skills and financial literacy.
