Camp Coach

VONTE MIDDLETON - Camp Coach

Javonte Middleton is a former collegiate football standout and dedicated coach with roots in Savannah, Georgia. A four-year starting quarterback at H.V. Jenkins High School, Javonte accounted for over 7,400 total yards and 78 touchdowns, and posted a perfect 22–0 record against Savannah-area schools during his time as the starting quarterback. He earned multiple All-State, All-Region honors, served as a team captain of three sports teams, and helped elevate the program through sustained success.

Javonte won the Savannah Morning New Player of the Year, Ashley Dearing Award, & The Michael Finocchiaro Award Memorial Award before moving on to play at the Division 1 level.

At The Citadel, Javonte made program history when he became the first Bulldog in school history to wear jersey number 0, a number designated for a Military Team Captain — reflecting his leadership, work ethic, and commitment to service. During his time at The Citadel, he switched positions from quarterback to defense and excelled as a starter at cornerback, highlighted by a memorable performance against the defending national champion Clemson Tigers.

After his playing career, Javonte transitioned into coaching and athlete development. He began coaching spring football as a volunteer wide receivers coach for the Savannah State Tigers, where he worked directly with collegiate athletes on route concepts, technique, and game preparation. He later served as tight ends coach at Calvary Day School in Savannah, helping guide the Cavaliers to one of the state’s top scoring averages and a deep run to the Final Four.

Beyond X’s and O’s, Javonte has also been a mentor to high-level recruits, including Michael Smith, a four-star tight end out of Calvary Day School who signed with the University of South Carolina Gamecocks after a decorated high school career.

Javonte’s experience as a multi-position player, team captain, and coach gives him a unique perspective on leadership, skill development, and maximizing performance — making him an impactful communicator and instructor for athletes of all ages.
