William Schmid
Senior Staff & Media Manager

William Schmid is a rising junior at SUNY Oneonta. William is a Sports Management major as well as the Captain of the Men's Tennis team. As a freshman in 2022-2023, William played second doubles and fourth singles behind three seniors. William finished the year with a total of 19 wins and was a nominee for the SUNY Oneonta Athletics Rookie of the Year.
During his sophomore year, William played first doubles and second singles and finished the year with a total of 20 wins. William and his doubles partner, senior August LePique, earned Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Doubles Team of the Week. William also earned Red Dragon of the Week at SUNY Oneonta for his play. He was also a nominee for Outstanding Individual Performance at the SUNY Oneonta Athletics Awards.
William is the tennis representative to the Student Athlete Advisory Council and is the tennis representative to the SUNY Oneonta chapter of Morgan's Message which spreads awareness for the mental health of student-athletes.
A native of Yonkers, NY and a 2022 graduate of Salesian High School in New Rochelle, NY, William was a four year member of the Varsity Tennis team. As a freshman and senior, William was a member of the Catholic High School Athletic Association's City Championship team. He played first singles for his last three years and was a three year captain of the team. He only lost two high school singles matches. William was the team's Most Valuable Player for two years and was named the school's 2022 Athlete of the Year.
William had represented the Park Hill Racquet Club for the last six years. He has played #1 singles for the Men's team in the Westchester County Men's Tennis League.
William has been working at Yonkers Tennis Center since he was 14. He looks forward to spending this summer sharing his love of tennis with the campers this summer at SUNY Oneonta.
William is the son of Ed and Kerry Schmid of Yonkers, NY and is an only child.
