Wynne Lobel Xcelerate Lacrosse

Directing camp this summer is Wynne Lobel. Coach Lobel spent ten years as the head women's lacrosse coach at Pacific University (OR).

Hired in 2005 to build the new program, with the first season taking place in 2007, Lobel saw improvement from her charges almost every year. The program earned its first victory on Mar. 25, 2007, beating Fontbonne 12-11. Her 2010 program registered a 6-5 record, the first winning record in the Boxers’ four years. The win ledger included a sweep of Northwest rival Linfield and the program’s first win over the established program at Puget Sound.

For her efforts on and off the field, her peers in the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) elected Lobel as the 2007 NCAA Division III West Region Coach of the Year. It was the second time in her career that she had earned regional coach of the year distinction.

During the summer of 2009, Lobel served as a coach for the Danish National Women’s Lacrosse Team at the Women’s Lacrosse World Cup in Prague, Czech Republic. She led the team to two wins in the tournament over South Korea.

Prior to her arrival at Pacific, Lobel was the head women’s lacrosse coach for four seasons at Plymouth State College in Plymouth, N.H., leading each of her teams to Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) championship each season. She led the Panthers to their first NCAA Division III national tournament appearance in 2001 and led the Panthers to the second round in their 2004 campaign.

In 2001, Lobel was recognized as the New England Women’s Lacrosse Association (NEWLA) Coach of the Year, and earned Little East Coach of the Year in 2002, 2003 and 2004. In addition, she was named the NCAA Division III New England Region Coach of the Year in 2004.

After leaving Plymouth State in 2004, Lobel created and directed i-lacrosse, a summer program that included summer camps and international lacrosse playing opportunities for women.

Lobel serves as a coach’s education program facilitator for U.S. Lacrosse and a field director for Player’s Choice Lacrosse Camps in Massachusetts. Lobel currently serves on the NCAA Division III Championships West Region Selection Committee.

Prior to Plymouth State, Lobel spent one season as an assistant coach at Boston College and spent the 1998-99 season as an assistant women’s lacrosse and field hockey coach at Wheaton College in Norton, Mass. She played four seasons of lacrosse and field hockey at Ithaca College in New York. She was selected as Ithaca’s field hockey MVP in 1992.

Lobel earned a bachelor’s degree in outdoor recreation and education from Ithaca in 1993, and earned her master’s in elementary education from Lesley College (Mass.) in 2002. Avid about anything outdoors, Lobel has completed a bicycle tour of New Zealand and Australia and ran the 100th Boston Marathon in 1996. She is the daughter of longtime legendary Boston sportscaster Bob Lobel.
