Register for the Nike Cross Country Camp at Loyola Marymount and enjoy collegiate-level coaching in beautiful coastal Los Angeles. Next Athletes, licensed operator of Nike Sports Camps, provides the perfect environment to learn from amazing distance and cross country coaches from across the nation. During camp, runners will develop fundamentals and advanced skills, while running the scenic, extensive trail systems around campus and oceanfront paths. The camp is open to runners of all ability levels, ages 10-17.
SUMMER OVERNIGHT CAMP (JUNE 29 - JULY 2)
Campers are invited to join in for our immersive overnight camp experience this summer! Participants reside in the dormitories in adjacent rooms to the staff while receiving extensive coaching during the daytime hours. This camp includes accommodations, meals, coaching, fun non-running evening activities, educational seminars (including sports psychology and college recruiting), and more.
SUMMER DAY CAMP (JUNE 29 - JULY 2)
We also offer a day camp program which runs from 9:00am-4:00pm (schedule varies on first and last day). The day camp tuition includes training only and campers must bring their own lunch.

Westy McQueen is the owner and camp director for Next Athletes, operator of Nike Sports Camps. Westy has over 10 years of experience operating youth programs and has designed the Next Athletes programs with the purpose of providing a truly memorable, athletic development experience for each child.

Chloe Curtis is the head cross country coach at Loyola Marymount University and serves as a support staff member for Next Athletes and Nike Cross Country Camps.

Sean Henning took over as Biola’s Track & Field and Cross Country head coach in June 2015. He came to Biola after time at California Baptist University in Riverside, California. He attended Azusa Pacific for his undergraduate studies.

Kulsum Baig is a certified athletic trainer and handles all athletic training needs for Next Athletes’ Nike Sports Camps. With a Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training from San Diego State University and a Graduate Certificate in Musculoskeletal Injury Management from the University of Kentucky, Kulsum has worked with athletes at the high school, collegiate, and clinical levels.

Camp Details
2025 SUMMER CAMP INFO:
- Dates: June 29 - July 2, 2025 (Sun-Wed)
- Age Group: 10-17
- Camp Type: Day, Overnight Sessions Available!
- Schedule: 9:00am-4:00pm Daily
- First Day Check-In: Please use the linked campus map if you have any questions.
- Overnight Campers: 11:30am-12:00pm at Lawton Plaza
- Day Campers: 12:00-12:30pm for day campers at Lawton Plaza
- Last Day Check-Out: Following the closing ceremony at 12:30pm on Wednesday at Lawton Plaza
- Meals: Meals are provided for overnight campers only. Day campers are required to bring their own lunch daily.
- Apparel: All campers should arrive at check-in dressed in their athletic apparel and ready to train.
- Note: Following camp check-in, overnight campers will store their luggage in a secure room at Doheny Hall and return immediately to Lawton Plaza for orientation. Overnight campers will check into their dormitory after the first day of training.

Please note: Camp is closed to spectators during daytime hours. Parents are highly encouraged to attend the orientation on the first day and closing ceremony on the final day!
SUMMER OVERNIGHT CAMP
The overnight program includes instruction, fun games and competitions for prizes, overnight accommodation, all meals, fun evening activities, and more. The camp staff resides in the dormitories in adjacent rooms to the campers and provides supervision throughout the camp. The camp utilizes LMU/Bluff Trail as its training facility.
- Check-in: On the first day of camp, check-in will be between 11:30am-12:00pm
- Check-in Location: Lawton Plaza
- After overnight campers check in, they will store their luggage in a secure location. Overnight campers will check-in to their dormitories in the late afternoon after the first day of training.
- Campers should arrive at check-in dressed in their athletic apparel and ready to train.
- Check out: Following the closing ceremony at 12:30pm at Lawton Plaza
- Meals: Day 1: Dinner | Days 2-3: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner | Day 4: Breakfast
- Room Key Deposit: Please bring a $25 check made out to “Next Athletes, LLC”
- Closing Ceremony: The closing ceremony will take place at Lawton Plaza. Parents are invited to attend! Campers and parents will depart following the closing ceremony.
SUMMER DAY CAMP (9:00AM – 4:00PM)
The Nike Cross Country Camp at Loyola Marymount University also offers a day camp program for campers who do not wish to stay overnight. This option includes instruction and daytime activities only. The schedule is modified on the first and last days of camp.

- Day Camper Drop-Off (Mon-Wed): 8:45-9:00am at Lawton Plaza
- Day Camper Pick-Up (Sun-Tues): 4:00pm at Lawton Plaza
- Day Camper Pick-Up/Closing Ceremony Location (Wed): 12:30pm at Lawton Plaza
- Parking: Parents can use Drollinger Parking Plaza for all drop-offs and pick-ups. Pay to park $3/40min, use license plate number at kiosk.
SUMMER DAY CAMP HOURS & MEALS
- Sunday: 12:00-4:00pm. Meals are not provided.
- Monday-Tuesday: 9:00am-4:00pm. Meals are not provided. Day campers must pack lunch.
- Wednesday: 9:00am-12:30pm. Check-out is following the 12:30pm closing ceremony. Meals are not provided.
- Closing Ceremony: will take place at Lawton Plaza. Parents are invited to attend! Campers and parents will depart following the closing ceremony.
- Meals: Day campers are required to bring their own lunch daily.
PARENT/CAMPER SEMINARS
Both campers and parents are invited to join us from 6:30-7:30pm on Monday and Tuesday night at Lawton Plaza for evening seminars. Seminar topics will include college recruiting, expectations of a collegiate athlete, how to choose the right school, and important sports psychology topics. We also offer opportunities for Q&A with each panel of coaches.
HOUSING
The information below is based on previous years and is subject to change.
- Dorm: Doheny Hall
- Number of Campers Per Room: 2 per room
- Roommates: Rooms are assigned by age & roommate requests. Roommate requests must be mutual. If you don't have a roommate request, you will be placed in a room with someone near your age. It will be a great opportunity to meet someone new!
- Bathrooms: Shared
- Linens: Not included. Bring linens (Twin XL) or a sleeping bag, pillow, pillowcase, and a towel.
- Air Conditioning: None. Campers are in their dorms for very limited hours during the daytime and nightly temperatures are typically mild. However, campers are welcome to bring a small fan.
WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE FEE?
- Instruction: Morning and afternoon training sessions
- Supervision: Campers are supervised by staff during camp hours.
- Overnight campers: Housing, evening activities and all meals
- Day campers: Instruction and daytime activities only. Lunch is not included
- Camp T-shirt & Prizes: Campers at multi-day camps will receive a Nike Running Camp t-shirt and prizes

Ratio: 1:10 staff to camper ratio
Groupings: Campers are grouped by age, ability, and experience.

Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital.
TRANSPORTATION
Transportation is not provided. Campers are responsible for getting to and from camp on their own. There is no supervision before or after camp hours so please make arrangements to pick up your child on time.

We bring the best out of campers of all skill levels. All we require is a positive attitude.
Does the Health & Release Form need to be signed by a doctor?
Our Health & Release Form does not require a doctor’s signature. This form is required to be filled out accurately, and completed online prior to camp arrival.
