Sign up for the Nike Cross Country Camp at University of Puget Sound this summer and experience a collegiate-level coaching curriculum. Next Athletes, licensed operator of Nike Sports Camps, provides the perfect environment to learn from elite-level coaches. The camp is open to athletes of all ability levels, ages 10-17.
This camp is open to any and all entrants and is only limited by age, gender and number.

Westy McQueen is the owner and camp director for Next Athletes, operator of Nike Sports Camps. Westy has over 10 years of experience operating youth programs and has designed the Next Athletes programs with the purpose of providing a truly memorable, athletic development experience for each child.

Cross Country Director Daniel Ozan
Daniel Ozan (Coach O) is the head cross country coach at Mt. SAC and serves as a support staff member for Next Athletes and Nike Cross Country Camps.

Justin Johnson is the the Lead Assistant Track & Field Coach at Biola University and serves as a support staff member for Next Athletes and Nike Running Camps.

Certified Athletic Trainer Kulsum Baig
Kulsum Baig is a certified athletic trainer and handles all athletic training needs for Next Athletes’ Nike Sports Camps. With a Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training from San Diego State University and a Graduate Certificate in Musculoskeletal Injury Management from the University of Kentucky, Kulsum has worked with athletes at the high school, collegiate, and clinical levels.

2025 OVERVIEW
- Dates: August 4-7, 2025 (Monday-Thursday)
- Age Group: 10-17
- Gender: Coed
- Camp Type: Day (9:00am-4:00pm), Overnight Camp
- Schedule: 9:00am-4:00pm
- First Day Check-In: Please use the linked campus map if you have any questions.
- Overnight Campers: 7:30-8:00am at Baker Stadium.
- Day Campers: 8:00-8:30am for day campers at Baker Stadium.
- Orientation (All Campers): 8:30-8:45am
- Last Day Check-Out: Following the closing ceremony at 3:30pm on Thursday at Baker Stadium.
- Meals: Meals are provided for overnight campers only. Day campers are required to bring their own lunch daily.
- Apparel: All campers should arrive at check-in dressed in their athletic apparel and ready to train.
- Note: Following camp check-in, all overnight campers will have an opportunity to move into their room in the residence hall briefly but please come dressed in your athletic apparel for camp.

Please note: Camp is closed to spectators during daytime hours. Parents are highly encouraged to attend the orientation on the first day and closing ceremony on the final day!
SUMMER OVERNIGHT CAMP
The overnight program includes instruction, fun games and competitions for prizes, overnight accommodation, all meals, fun evening activities, and more. The camp staff resides in the dormitories in adjacent rooms to the campers and provides supervision throughout the camp. The camp utilizes Tacoma Waterfront/Point Defiance as its training facility.
OVERNIGHT INFORMATION
- Check-in: On the first day of camp, check-in will be between 7:30-8:00am
- Check-in Location: Baker Stadium.
- After overnight campers check in, parents and campers will receive their room and access cards and store their luggage in their assigned room.
- Campers should arrive at check-in dressed in their athletic apparel and ready to train.
- Check out: Following the closing ceremony at 3:30pm at Baker Stadium.
- Meals: Day 1: Lunch, Dinner | Days 2-3: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner | Day 4: Breakfast, Lunch
- Room Key Deposit: Please bring a $50 check made out to “Next Athletes, LLC”
- Closing Ceremony: The closing ceremony will take place at Baker Stadium. Parents are invited to attend! Campers and parents will depart following the closing ceremony.
SUMMER DAY CAMP (9:00AM – 4:00PM)
The Nike Cross Country Camp at the University of Puget Sound also offers a day camp program for campers who do not wish to stay overnight. This option includes instruction and daytime activities only. The schedule is modified on the first and last days of camp.
- Day Camper Drop-Off (Monday): 8:00-8:30am at Baker Stadium. - see “Summer Camp Info” section for full details about Orientation
- Day Camper Drop-Off (Tue-Thurs): 8:45-9:00am at Anderson/Langdon Hall.
- Day Camper Pick-Up (Mon-Wed): 4:00pm at Anderson/Langdon Hall.
- Day Camper Pick-Up/Closing Ceremony Location (Thurs): 3:30pm at Baker Stadium.
- Parking: Parents can park in the Parking Lot P1.
SUMMER DAY CAMP HOURS & MEALS
- Monday: 8:00am-4:00pm. Meals are not provided. Day campers must pack a lunch.
- Tuesday-Wednesday: 9:00am-4:00pm. Meals are not provided. Day campers must pack a lunch.
- Thursday: 9:00am-3:30pm. Check-out is following the 3:30pm closing ceremony. Meals are not provided. Day campers must pack a lunch.
- Closing Ceremony: Will take place at Baker Stadium. Parents are invited to attend! Campers and parents will depart following the closing ceremony.
- Meals: Day campers are required to bring their own lunch daily.
PARENT/CAMPER SEMINARS
Both campers and parents are invited to join us from 6:30-7:30pm on Nights 2 & 3 of camp at Anderson/Langdon Hall for evening seminars. Seminar topics will include college recruiting, expectations of a collegiate athlete, how to choose the right school, and more. We also offer opportunities for Q&A with each panel of coaches.
HOUSING
The information below is based on previous years and is subject to change.
- Dorm: Anderson/Langdon Hall
- Number of Campers Per Room: 2 per room
- Roommates: Rooms are assigned by age & roommate requests. Roommate requests must be mutual. If you don't have a roommate request, you will be placed in a room with someone near your age. It will be a great opportunity to meet someone new!
- Bathrooms: Shared
- Linens: Not included. Bring linens (Twin XL) or a sleeping bag, pillow, pillowcase, and a towel.
- Air Conditioning: No (bring a small fan)
WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE FEE?
- Instruction: Morning and afternoon training sessions
- Supervision: Campers are supervised by staff during camp hours.
- Trails: Puget Sound campus, the Tacoma Waterfront, and Point Defiance Park

INSTRUCTION, EQUIPMENT & FACILITY
- Ratio: 1:10 staff-to-camper ratio
- Groupings: Campers are grouped by age, ability, and experience.
- Equipment Needed: Please bring your water, running shoes, and lunch
- Medical Protocol: Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital.

TRANSPORTATION
Transportation is not provided. Campers are responsible for getting to and from camp on their own. There is no supervision before or after camp hours so please make arrangements to pick up your child on time.

CANCELLATION DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER
In the event a camp day is cancelled or camp hours are adjusted due to inclement weather, we will make every effort to provide make-up time. If make-up time is not possible, no refund will be issued for the first cancelled day or any shortened hours. If additional full days are cancelled and cannot be rescheduled, a pro-rated camp credit voucher will be issued for each cancelled day beyond the first.

DISCOUNTS AVAILABLE
TEAM DISCOUNT: If five or more campers register together, each camper is eligible for a $25 discount. Please have a team contact reach out directly to the USSC office at 1-800-645-3226 to receive a discount code to identify your group. Campers may then register through the website at their convenience and apply the coupon code during check-out.

My child is new to the sport, do you accept athletes who are beginners in the sport?
We bring the best out of campers of all skill levels. All we require is a positive attitude.
Does the Health & Release Form need to be signed by a doctor?
Our Health & Release Form does not require a doctor’s signature. This form is required to be filled out accurately, and completed online prior to camp arrival.
