POSITION TRAINING OVERVIEW
Quarterback Development: Quarterbacks work on throwing mechanics, footwork, balance, accuracy, and timing. Drills emphasize setting the feet, delivering the ball with control, and connecting with receivers on a variety of routes. As training progresses, quarterbacks practice recognizing coverage, working through passing options, and making decisions against a live defense.
Receiver, Tight End & Running Back Development: Players develop stance and starts, releases, route running, change of direction, and catching technique. Coaches emphasize creating separation, maintaining proper spacing, and timing routes with the quarterback. Tight ends work on finding space within coverage, while running backs practice receiving responsibilities out of the backfield.
Defensive Back & Linebacker Development: Defenders practice stance, backpedal, hip transitions, change of direction, and breaking on the football. Instruction introduces man-to-man and zone coverage responsibilities, route recognition, and communication. Players learn to maintain positioning, react to the quarterback and receivers, and challenge catches within the non-contact rules.
Non-Contact Football Fundamentals: Campers also work on blocking and tackling fundamentals through non-contact technique drills. Instruction focuses on stance, footwork, body positioning, balance, and controlled movement. Players rehearse the mechanics of blocking and tackling without contact, alongside other fundamental football skills.
TRAINING INTO COMPETITION
One-on-One & Small-Group Training: One-on-one drills give receivers opportunities to practice getting open while defenders work on coverage and reacting to the ball. Small-group passing periods combine multiple routes and defensive assignments, helping players understand spacing, timing, and how their individual responsibilities fit into each play. Coaches provide feedback between repetitions so campers can make adjustments.
Team Concepts & Football IQ: Campers learn how formations, route combinations, coverage, and communication influence a play. Offensive players practice lining up correctly, recognizing space, and executing assignments together. Defenders work on identifying formations, communicating responsibilities, and responding as a unit. Coaches reinforce decision-making, teamwork, and understanding why a play succeeds.
Applying Skills in Competitive Play: The training progression brings individual drills and small-group work together in 7v7 passing competition. Quarterbacks apply their reads and timing, receivers execute routes against coverage, and defenders practice positioning and communication in live situations. Coaches use these repetitions to reinforce fundamentals and help campers translate instruction into game experience.
Camp Tournament & Player Development: Campers participate in competitive activities and game situations throughout the week. On the final day, a camp tournament brings the experience together and gives athletes an opportunity to put their training into
action. The focus remains on skill execution, teamwork, sportsmanship, and learning from each possession as players demonstrate their progress and finish camp together.
Training Focus: Passing accuracy and timing • Route running and catching • Coverage and ball skills • Footwork and agility • Communication and teamwork • Football awareness and decision-making.
