at Nike Football Skills Camps

The Nike Football Skills Camp at Benedictine University is excited to launch in Lisle, Illinois, offering young athletes a high-energy, skill-focused football experience on a collegiate campus. This co-ed, 4-day camp is designed for beginner and intermediate players who want to strengthen their on-field skills, improve football IQ, and build confidence in a safe, fun environment.

Campers will receive hands-on instruction from experienced collegiate coaches through fundamental drills, position-specific skill development, and competitive games, all structured to ensure age-appropriate instruction and plenty of reps.

Each day blends focused training with engaging competitions to keep athletes motivated and learning. Lunch is provided daily at the Benedictine University cafeteria and is included in the price of camp, making this a convenient and complete camp experience for families.

Whether your athlete is newer to the game or looking to sharpen their skills, the Nike Football Skills Camp at Benedictine University delivers expert coaching, a supportive atmosphere, and an unforgettable introduction to football training at the next level.

    Camp Director

    Jim Schroeder returned to Benedictine to become the head coach in the spring of 2019 following four years away as the head coach at Rockford University.Schroeder initially joined the Benedictine coaching staff in 2005 as Defensive Coordinator and added the title of Football Recruiting Coordinator following the 2007 season. He's regarded as a strong teacher and recruiter who helped the BenU defense earn a reputation among Division III's best.

    Schroeder's defensive units have earned numerous accolades and national rankings. In total defense, the team ranked 11th nationally in 2012, as well as 26th in 2009 and 14th in 2007. Against the pass, BenU’s defense ranked 10th in the country in 2012 and 4th nationally in pass efficiency defense following the 2007 season. Also under Schroeder’s guidance, the defense led the Northern Athletics Conference in points allowed per game in 2010. Schroeder has also coached the Northern Athletics Conference Defensive Player of the Year during the 2012 season and Co-Player of the year in 2011.

    In 2013, Schroeder received the Bob Conwell Award, which is an award given out to an assistant coach who demonstrates leadership, strength and committment.

    Prior to his arrival at Benedictine in 2005, Schroeder served as the defensive line coach for a season at Davidson College in North Carolina. During the 2003 season, he mentored Davidson's running backs and coached the school's all-time leading rusher. Prior to his two year stint at Davidson, he served as Defensive Tackles coach at Columbia University of the Ivy League for a year. He got his start in coaching at his alma mater Valparaiso University as a graduate assistant working with the offensive line in 2001.

    Schroeder graduated from Valpo in 2000 with a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education and also added a Master’s Degree in Athletic Administration from Valpo in 2006. As a player, Schroeder was a three year starter who earned All-Pioneer Football League honors as well as Honorable Mention Mid-Major All-American honors by the Football Gazette. Following graduation, he played professionally for the Dortmund Giants of the German Football League.

    The Michigan native resides in Lisle, IL with his wife Theresa and their two children; Andrew and Alaina.

Camp Details

Instruction will develop fundamentals and advanced skills, focusing on footwork, specific positions, team play, and game situations.

  • Dates: June 15-18, 2026
  • Age Group: 8-14 (Geared toward campers that are incoming 4th grade – incoming 8th grade)
  • Gender: Coed
  • Camp Type: Day Camp
  • Schedule: 9:00am-3:00pm
  • Check-In: Begins 30 minutes prior to the camp start time.
  • Check-Out: 3:00pm Daily
    • 1st day check-in will occur in the Krasa Student Center. #11 on the campus map. Check out will also be at the Krasa Student Center each day
  • Meals: Lunch provided at the Benedictine University cafeteria each day

INSTRUCTION & FACILITY

  • Camper Ability Level(s) (Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced): Beginner and Intermediate
  • Offensive Skills: Specific Position Skill Work, Hand-Eye Coordination, Ball Handling and Position, Passing Drills, Catching Drills, Proper Grip and Throwing, Running Routes
  • Defensive Skills: Specific Position Skill Work, Explanation of Defenses (Zone/Man-to-Man), Footwork
  • Ratio: 1:10 staff to camper ratio

  • Groupings: Campers are grouped by ability, age, and experience, per the Director's discretion.

  • Facility: Outdoor Fields.

MEDICAL PROTOCOL

Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital.

TRAVEL

Nike Football Camps does not provide transportation from airports, train stations or bus depots. If you have a child flying to camp, please arrange a shuttle or taxi service.

TEAM/GROUP DISCOUNT

If you have a team or group of 5 or more campers registering for the same camp, each camper may be eligible for a discount. To receive the group discount, please have someone email US Sports Camps at [email protected] with the following information: Camp name, list of camper names, and the number of campers. We will respond with a unique discount code for everyone in the group to use during online registration. *Note: Discount amounts vary by program, so please reach out for more details.
