Golf Camp Safety - Suggestions
US Sports Camps (USSC) strives to create a safe and positive environment for all campers and staff. Making "Safety First" a priority is a crucial aspect in delivering an exceptional camp experience. It ensures that campers can participate in activities with confidence, knowing that their well-being is a top priority. Listed below you will find safety suggestions that can be discussed with your camper at home prior to the first day of camp.
RANGE AND PRACTICE AREAS
- Camp Directors should identify designated safety zones.
- Only one camper should be allowed in a safety zone at a time.
- Campers should not swing a club or retrieve balls outside the safety zone.
- NO walking in front or behind other campers.
- Campers should never swing a club toward anyone.
- All campers should cane their club or lay it on the ground during instruction.
ON THE COURSE
- Campers must walk during course play.
- Campers should ONLY be allowed to grab their club if they will be hitting.
- While on the tee box, only one camper should tee off at a time.
- Practice swings should only be allowed on the tee box between the tee markers.
- Campers should not stand or walk behind someone preparing to hit their shot.
- After hitting, campers should cane their club, grab their tee, and walk to a safe area.
- Campers should yell "FORE" if their ball is moving in the direction of others.
- Let groups in front of you move to a safe distance before campers hit their next shot.
ADDITIONAL SAFETY
- Wear proper golf attire
- Golf shoes – prevent slipping
- Golf gloves – prevent clubs from slipping
- Drink water to stay hydrated
- Campers should only hold a golf ball or golf club if they will use it for instruction.
- Lightning in the area: campers should not hide under tall trees or stand in open areas. Instructors should bring everyone back to the clubhouse or designated safety areas.
