    Camp Director

Trine University Athletic Director Matt Land announced the hiring of Ryan Kuhn as the head coach of Thunder men’s lacrosse. Kuhn became the fourth head coach in program history in August of 2021.

“We are ecstatic for the level of experience that Ryan brings to Trine men’s lacrosse,” said Land, “I am excited to see what his experience with building new programs can accomplish with our already established team.”

Kuhn led an immediate turnaround in year one at the helm of the Thunder Lacrosse program. Inis first year the Thunder posted a 9-5 record, a four win improvement from the previous season. Dave Keptner earned first team All-MIAA recognition as a long stick midfielder.

Trine matched their 2022 win total in 2023 with a 9-0 start and earning an important win over DePauw.

The 2024 campaign saw Trine set a flurry of team single game records. In a win over Alma the team set the record for most points (47) and goals (30) in a single game. The Thunder also added records for ground balls (72) and shots (78).

The 2025 season marked the best season for the Thunder lacrosse program, Trine posted a 14-6 record and made a run to their first MIAA Championship Game. 14 wins are the most in a single season by four. Collin Custer and Mason Levin were recognized with second team All-MIAA status.

Prior to Trine, Kuhn was at Heidelberg University where he served as head coach of the women’s program, a position which he held for one season. During that season he led the team to a 4-0 record before the season was cut short due to the outbreak of Covid-19.

Before taking the reins at Heidelberg, Kuhn spent a season as an assistant coach at Shoreham Wading River High School where he led the team to a New York State Championship, finishing 13th in the country and second among public school competition.

Kuhn established the lacrosse program at NCAA Division II Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tenn. In just four years, Kuhn led the Railsplitters from an inaugural season to a national contender. In his final season as head coach (2018), the team finished 14-4 breaking into the national rankings.

In his four seasons Kuhn coached 14 student-athletes to All-South Atlantic Conference honors, including 11 over his final two seasons alone. He finished the four-year tenure with a 32-27 record.

Kuhn received an MBA from Lincoln Memorial University in 2017 and completed his undergraduate degree at Manhattanville College in 2007. He resides in Defiance, Ohio with his wife Rachelle and daughter Riley.
