Camp Overview

Improve your game and have serious fun

In partnership with Frank W. Ballou High School, Chase Your Dreams Academy (CYDA), will host its inaugural 2025 NIKE Basketball and Youth Development Summer Enrichment Camp for youth residing in Washington, DC, specifically in Ward 7 and Ward 8. CYDA will work with community leaders and organizations to bring this wonderful program to the community of Ballou High School. Former WNBA Player, U.S. Olympic Festival Gold-medalist, and Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, Sonia Chase, continues to lead the charge as a beacon of hope as she provides participants from Ward 7 and Ward 8 with an unprecedented opportunity to attend this incredible 5-day intensive program. Participants will learn about respecting others, integrity, goal setting, time management, teamwork, sportsmanship, and service to their community. Sonia is already “writing the next chapter” and making it happen for her participants in the classroom, in the community, and on the court! Participants will have an opportunity to learn fundamental basketball skills such as shooting, dribbling, passing, and defense, as well as participate in drills, stations, competitive games, and enrichment workshops. Basketball is the hook, but the real message revolves around character enrichment, peacebuilding, and youth development. CYDA’s staff are committed to utilize the power of sports to bridge divides, promoting a culture of peace, learning, respect, and unity. Participants will attend workshops on leadership development, financial literacy, and participate in activities that help to shape their ambition, build self-esteem/confidence, challenging them to push pass any mental and physical barriers. Each day participants will be provided with morning snack, lunch, and an afternoon snack. Participants will also have an opportunity to win NIKE trophies and NIKE certificates, as well as receive a NIKE t-shirt and other fun giveaways.

The Complete Skills Camp helps players of all abilities develop athletically, refine fundamental basketball skills and enhance their skill set at the post, wing or guard position.

Highlights Include

  • All coaches have professional, college, high school, or AAU experience
  • Highly structured daily schedule with skill stations, fundamental development, and team play
