This is a 2-day Speed Development Clinic, offering over 10 hours of instruction for both Individual and Team Sport Athletes, demonstrating a series of drills aimed at teaching correct running mechanics for optimum performance. Participants will be introduced to general, intermediate, advanced, and specific training paradigms, as well as strategies to elevate their skill set.

Upon completing this Speed Development Individual & Team Sports Camp, each participant will know the difference between frontside and backside mechanics, learn drills that will reinforce the proper mechanics to improve their overall performance, force production, and agility designed to translate to all sports and benefit all athletes, regardless of age or skill level.

    HEAD COACH RALPH JONES

    Ralph Jones is the Program Head of Track and Field at Charlotte Christian School and the Jones Elite Training Sports Performance (JET) owner. Jones is a USATF Level 3 Certified Speed Specialist, earning his IAAF elite coaching certification. He is USATF Level 2 Certified in sprints, hurdles, relays, jumps, and middle and long distances and also holds a Level I CrossFit Certification.

    DIRECTOR JAMES DANIELS

    CEO of Daniels High Performance. A former collegiate Coach, his student-athletes have earned 155 All-American Track & Field Citations via Division I, II, and III. He has served as an Instructor, Clinician, Speed Development Coach, and USATF High-Performance Coach, participated yearly in the USATF Biomechanical Analysis of High-Performance Athletes under the guidance of Dr. Ralph Mann, and as a Strength & Conditioning Coach. His athletes have earned 160 MEAC All-Academic Honors, 74 SEC All-Academic, and USTFCCCA National Team Honors.

The Nike Speed Development Camp at Charlotte Christian School is a one-day camp focusing on Speed Development for both Individual and Team Sport athletes looking to develop over the summer and get ready for next season.

Participants will be introduced to general, intermediate, advanced, and specific training paradigms as well as strategies to elevate their individual skill set.

2024 CAMP OVERVIEW

  • Dates: July 5-6, 2024
  • Ages: 10-18
  • Gender: Co-ed
  • Camp type: Day
  • Schedule: 8:45AM-3:30PM
  • Check-in: 15 minutes prior to camp start time
  • Morning Session: 8:45am – 11:45am
  • Lunch: 11:50am – 1:15pm
  • Afternoon Session: 1:20pm - 3:30pm
  • Lunch: Campers should bring their own lunch and snacks

INSTRUCTION, EQUIPMENT & FACILITY

  • Ratio: 1:10 staff to camper ratio
  • Grouped by: age, ability and experience
  • Evaluation: by coaching staff
  • Equipment Needed: Campers should bring at least one pair of broken in running shoes. Event shoes/spikes are recommended but not required. Please be sure to properly mark your equipment, so that it can be easily identified.
  • Facility: Charlotte Christian School Athletic Facility

CHECKLIST OF THINGS TO BRING:

Below is a suggested list of clothes, equipment and personal items. US Sports Camps is NOT responsible for lost or stolen articles or money.

ALL CAMPERS:

  • Extra Athletic clothing
  • 1-2 pairs of broken in running shoes/ event spikes
  • Non-running shoes
  • Water bottle
  • Sunblock
  • Packed lunch and snacks
  • Small gym bag/backpack

TRANSPORTATION

Transportation is not provided. Campers are responsible for getting to and from camp on their own. There is no supervision before or after camp hours so please make arrangements to pick up your child on time.

MEDICAL PROTOCOL

Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital.

CAMP TUITION PAYMENTS

Full payment of camp fees must be completed by the first day of the month before camp. For example:

  • June Camps: final payment is due on May 1
  • July Camps: final payment is due on June 1
  • August Camps: final payment is due on July 1

Any camper with an unpaid balance 10 days before the start of their camp will forfeit all camp fees paid to date and be removed from the camp.

Your confirmation email shows your balance due and balance due date. Final payments can be made through the US Sports Camps Customer Portal or by phone at 1-800-645-3226.

The Camp will be conducted in two sessions.

Session One - Skill Development Drills

We will teach a series of drills in a systematic sequence designed to reinforce proper frontside mechanic drill progression and provide error correction, which will turn an athlete's weaknesses into strengths, improve skill, and increase performance by teaching strengthening exercises to enhance muscle groups considered the prime movers responsible for the actual execution of frontside mechanics and speed development.

Session Two - Individual or Team Sport Training

Track & Field athletes will receive an advance instructional model on Acceleration, Speed, and Power.

Team Sport athletes will receive further instruction on Acceleration, Deceleration, Top-End Speed, Change of Direction, Developing and Improving the Rate of Force Production, and components of Multi-Directional Movement to increase performance.
