SESSION ONE - SKILL DEVELOPMENT DRILLS
In a group setting, we will teach a series of drills in a systematic sequence designed to reinforce proper frontside mechanic drill progression and provide error correction, which will turn an athlete’s weaknesses into strengths, improve skill, and increase performance by teaching strengthening exercises to enhance muscle groups considered the prime movers responsible for the actual execution of frontside mechanics and speed development.
SESSION TWO - EVENT SPECIFIC INSTRUCTION
The athletes will receive an advanced instructional model on Acceleration, Speed, and Power, along with event-specific instruction tailored to teaching skills that meet the demands of their event. This includes focusing on the technical aspects, biomechanics, and training principles relevant to sprinting, hurdles, and long and triple jump.
CAMP OVERVIEW OBJECTIVES
- This two-day Camp is a Speed, Hurdle, Long, and Triple Jump Development is a learn by doing Camp that will incorporate a group warm-up session, with small groups to allow for more focused attention, an introduction to a series of drills aimed at teaching the correct running mechanics for optimum performance, demonstrations during each session, an introduction to general, immediate, advanced, and specific training paradigms as well as strategies to elevate the Camper’s skill set.
- Upon completing this Speed & Hurdle Development Camp, each participant will know the difference between Frontside and Backside Mechanics, learn drills that will be taught in a systematic sequence designed to reinforce proper Frontside Mechanics Drill Progressions to improve overall performance and force application while providing error correction feedback, which will turn an athlete’s weaknesses into strengths regardless of age or level of skill.
- The Long and Triple Jump section of the Camp will teach our campers a series of drills useful for all jumping events that teach the proper approach to running mechanics, takeoff, flight, and landing technique, strength, and conditioning using exercises specific to the jumps.
- Each Jump drill is slightly different and has a special skill and age-appropriate focus. Advanced drills for experienced jumpers will be implemented on a case-by-case basis; however, the progression and jump series will include in-place jumps, single-leg hops, double-leg continuous hops, skip for height, skip for distance, run, run, jump, 1-step continuous jumps, and other skill-specific drills that teach rhythm which is crucial to the jump events.
- This Clinic is designed to introduce athletes and coaches to training paradigms that teach injury prevention, Frontside Mechanics, Speed, Hurdle, Jump Development Programming, and Drills that address minor muscle group strengthening.
