    Sara Kettelkamp is a seasoned strength and conditioning professional with over a decade of experience working with athletes of all levels. She holds certifications as an NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), NSCA Registered Strength and Conditioning Coach (RSCC), and USA Weightlifting Performance Coach (USAW-L1). Sara earned her bachelor’s degree in Strength and Conditioning and her master’s in Health Promotion from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS).

    Currently serving as Head Coach at D1 Training Colorado Springs, Sara leads the coaching staff, designs training programs, and works hands-on with individuals and teams to help them reach peak performance. She also contributes nationally through the D1 Training Panel, developing programs and educational content for coaches across the country.

    Along with her work at D1, Sara is also the strength coach for the El Paso County Sheriff's Department, teaches part-time at UCCS, and proudly serves as Assistant Director of the Nike XC High Altitude Camp hosted annually at UCCS.

    Her coaching journey began in high school, inspired by her cross country coach. She went on to compete as a collegiate athlete at UCCS, later becoming a graduate assistant and assistant coach for the university’s cross country and track teams. After seven years at UCCS and two years coaching for the Army, Sara transitioned full-time to D1 Training to continue her passion for athlete development.

    Sara’s philosophy centers on building strong, resilient athletes through thoughtful strength and conditioning and a solid nutritional foundation. She’s committed to helping campers grow stronger, healthier, and more confident in their athletic journey.

Camp Details

Train and compete this summer at our Nike Sport Performance Camp at D1 Training in Colorado Springs! Athletes are evaluated by the coaches and placed into groups based on their age and ability.

  • Dates: June 15-19, 2026 (Monday-Friday)
  • Age Group: 12-18
  • Gender: Coed
  • Check-In: 9:00am (8:30am on Monday June 15)
  • Checkout: 3:00pm (Full Day) / 12:00pm (Half-Day)
    • D1 Training will not continue supervising campers after 3:15pm. If special accommodations need to be made, please reach out ahead of time.
    • On the final day (June 19) a camp award and recognition ceremony will start at 2:30pm for all parents to attend.
  • Meals: Lunch is not included. Campers pack own lunch.

  • Daily Instruction: Activities include football, lacrosse, baseball, soccer, weightlifting, speed & agility yoga, dance, and special guests!

MEDICAL PROTOCOL

Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital.

TRANSPORTATION

Transportation is not provided. Campers are responsible for getting to and from camp on their own. There is no supervision before or after camp hours so please make arrangements to pick up your child on time.

FAQ

  • We welcome individual campers and teams. If you come to camp by yourself, it's a great place to meet new friends who share your enthusiasm for the sport and to have FUN!

  • Our Health & Release Form does not require a doctor’s signature. This online form is required to be filled out accurately, signed by the parent (guardian), and completed before your first day of camp.

  • Yes, campers are supervised by the coaches and staff. All staff members complete criminal and sex offender background checks before working the camp.
