Come join Head Swim Coach, Kyllian Griffin, this summer at the Nike Swim Camp at Macalester College. Coach Griffin was chosen the MIAC Women's Swimming & Diving Coach of the Year in 2022-23. The coaching staff will be members of the Macalester College Swimming & Diving team which broke 21 school records and was ranked in the Top 10 for team GPA in the entire country in the 2022-23 season. The Nike Swim Camp combines elite-level stroke technique instruction with a fantastic summer camp experience!
Camp will be a blend of drill sessions and technique focus with opportunities to race and train throughout camp. Our staff is committed to helping competitive swimmers improve their stroke technique and to bring out the very best in every swimmer we coach. Campers train each day at Riley Pool in the Leonard Natatorium. The Riley Pool has been built with 10 lanes and includes the most up-to-date timing equipment. It is 25 yards by 25 meters.
The Nike Swim Camp at Macalester College is open to any and all entrants. For your safety and benefit, we recommend you have competitive swimming experience (e.g. U.S.S. age group, national qualifiers, high school swimmers, or summer league swimmers) and can swim at least 50 meters in all four competitive strokes: fly, back, breast and freestyle.

Camp Director Kyllian Griffin
Kyllian Griffin became head coach of Macalester's men’s and women’s swimming and diving programs in the fall of 2018. Coach Griffin was chosen the MIAC Women's Swimming & Diving Coach of the Year in 2022-23. He spent the previous four years as the head swim and dive coach and aquatics director at Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, Ill.

You can expect a high demand on these first-come-first-serve camper spots, so please be sure to register early. This summer, Macalester is offering an overnight camp with a day camp (8:30am-5:00pm) option for ages 10-18. The Nike Swim Camp offers campers from Minnesota and beyond a unique opportunity to improve and refine every facet of their game in a positive, progressive and challenging environment.
2023 OVERVIEW
- Dates: July 9-13
- Age Group: 10-18
- Gender: All
- Camp Type: Overnight & Day (commuter)
- Check-in: ALL CAMPERS check-in between 12:00pm-2:00pm on Sunday. There will be a camp orientation meeting after check-in and parents are welcome to attend.
- Check-out: There will be a closing ceremony at 11:30am on Thursday. ALL CAMPERS must check-out immediately following the ceremony at 12:00pm. The director will confirm details on the first day of camp.
- Extended Day Schedule: SUN 2PM-5PM, MON-WED 8:30AM-5PM, THURS 8:30AM-12PM **Times subject to change
- Meals: All meals are provided for Overnight campers. Lunch and dinner are provided for all Extended Day (commuter) campers.
- Program: The Stroke Technique program is designed to provide competitive swimmers with a better understanding of swimming fundamentals. Stroke refinement along with constructive feedback will be the focus of the camp and allows each participant to gain a greater knowledge of proper stroke mechanics and ways to improve themselves individually.

CAMP CHECK-IN
Sunday, July 9th
- ALL CAMPERS check-in Sunday between 12:00-2:00pm at George Draper Dayton Hall (GDD). There will be a camp orientation meeting after check-in and parents are welcome to attend. PLEASE NOTE: Dinner is the only meal provided on the first day of camp.
CAMP CHECK-OUT
Thursday, July 13th
- Camp concludes immediately following the closing ceremony at 11:30am. Overnight Campers check-out of George Draper Dayton Hall (GDD) and Day Campers can be picked up at the pool.
2023 HOUSING
- Dorm: George Draper Dayton Hall (GDD)
- Number of Campers Per Room: 2-5 per room (suite style rooms)
- Roommates: Rooms are assigned by age & roommate requests. Roommate requests must be mutual and received no later than 14 days before the start of camp. If you don't have a roommate request, you will be placed in a room with someone near your age. It will be a great opportunity to meet someone new!
- Bathrooms: Shared
- Linens: Not included. Bring linens or sleeping bag, pillow, pillowcase, and a towel.
- Air Conditioning: Yes - Dorm has A/C
SUPERVISION
The staff reside in the dormitories with the campers and participate in all activities. Drugs, alcohol and tobacco are strictly prohibited, and constitute, along with general misconduct, grounds for dismissal from camp without a refund.
WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE FEE?
- Instruction: Morning, afternoon, and evening training sessions
- Overnight campers: Dormitory housing on campus and all meals are provided.
- Extended Day campers: Lunch and dinner are provided.
- Supervision: Staff members reside in campers’ quarters and participate in all activities.
- Camp T-shirt & Prizes: Campers at multi-day camps will receive a Nike Swim Camps t-shirt and prizes.
INSTRUCTION, EQUIPMENT & FACILITY
- Ratio: 1:10 staff-to-camper ratio
- Groupings: Campers are grouped by age, ability, and experience.
- Equipment Needed: Please bring your water swimsuit, swim cap, googles and towel(s)
- Facility: Riley Pool in the Leonard Natatorium
- Medical Protocol: Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital.

DAY CAMPERS
Checklist of Things to Bring: We recommend that all Day Campers bring a daily pack with the following items: swimsuit, swim cap, goggles, towel, sunglasses, hat, sunscreen, sandals, water bottle, dry land gear (running shoes, t-shirt, athletic shorts, sweatshirt) and any other appropriate clothing for that day’s activities which will be described to you on the first day of camp.
Camp Schedule & Meals:
- Sunday: Day Campers should arrive dressed and ready to swim. You will be assigned a counselor and given a complete schedule of all events during the week. Day Campers stay until 5:00pm.
- Monday-Wednesday: Day Camper Hours – 8:30am-5:00pm. Lunch is provided.
- Thursday: Day Camper Hours - 8:30am-12:00pm. Check-out is immediately after the camp concludes.
TRANSPORTATION
Transportation is not provided. Campers are responsible for getting to and from camp on their own. There is no supervision before or after camp hours so please make arrangements to pick up your child on time.

DISCOUNTS AVAILABLE
TEAM DISCOUNT: If five or more campers register together, each camper is eligible for a $25 discount. Please have a team contact reach out directly to the USSC office at 1-800-645-3226 to receive a discount code to identify your group. Campers may then register through the website at their convenience and apply the coupon code during check-out.

Upon arrival at camp, campers are placed in groups with other swimmers having similar abilities and goals. Our camp staff will do their best to accommodate your needs, keeping in consideration your experience and desire to improve.
