Join Head Swim Coach Melinda Hunzeker for the inaugural Nike Swim Camp at Adams State University, a university deeply rooted in a winning tradition. Nestled in the scenic San Luis Valley, Adams State University is surrounded by the awe-inspiring beauty of the Sangre de Cristo and San Juan mountain ranges.
Designed for competitive swimmers, our camp curriculum focuses on elevating stroke technique. Receive personalized stroke analysis and instruction throughout multiple daily pool sessions, all held at the state-of-the-art Plachy Swimming Pool. Swimmers will have the opportunity to learn in intimate groups, as each camper receives guidance from the camp director, dedicated coaches, and experienced counselors. The Nike Swim Camp at Adams State University is open to any and all entrants (limited only by number, age, grade level, and/or gender). For your safety and benefit, we recommend you have competitive swimming experience (e.g., U.S.S. age group, national qualifiers, high school swimmers, or summer league swimmers) and can swim at least 50 meters in all four competitive strokes: fly, back, breast, and freestyle.

You can expect a high demand on these first-come-first-serve camper spots, so please be sure to register early. This summer, Adams State University is offering one week of day camp in June. Camp is a Complete Stroke Technique Camp for Ages 9-17.
2026 OVERVIEW COMPLETE STROKE TECHNIQUE
- Dates: June 1-4
- Age Group: 9-17
- Gender: Coed
- Camp Type: Day
- Check-in: Check-in each day between 8:30am-9:00am at Plachy Hall.
- Check-out: Check-out will take place at 4:00pm each day at Plachy Hall. A brief closing ceremony will take place at about 3:30pm on Thursday.
- Extended Day Schedule: MON - THURS 9:00AM - 4:00PM
- Meals: Lunch is provided each day.
- Program: During the complete stroke technique camps swimmers will receive detailed instruction on technique in all four competitive strokes, as well as starts, turns, and relay exchanges. Each camper will be instructed in small groups with other swimmers of similar skill level by the camp director, coaches, and counselors. Campers should be able to swim at least 50 meters in all four competitive strokes: fly, back, breast and freestyle.

DISCOUNTS AVAILABLE
- Team Discount: If five or more campers register together, each camper is eligible for a $25 discount. After all team members have successfully registered, contact us to receive a $25 refund per camper.
CAMP CHECK-IN
Monday, June 1st
- Check-in Monday between 8:30am-9:00am at Plachy Hall each day. Camp will begin with an orientation at 9:30am on Monday, and parents are welcome to attend.
CAMP CHECK-OUT
Thursday, June 4th
- Check-out will take place at 4:00pm each day at Plachy Hall. A brief closing ceremony will take place at about 3:30pm on Thursday.
SUPERVISION
The staff participate in all activities. Drugs, alcohol, and tobacco are strictly prohibited, and constitute, along with general misconduct, grounds for dismissal from camp without a refund.
WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE FEE?
- Instruction: Morning and afternoon training sessions.
- Meals: Lunch is provided each day.
- Supervision: Staff members supervise all camp activities.
- Camp T-shirt & Prizes: Campers at multi-day camps will receive a Nike Swim Camps t-shirt and prizes.
INSTRUCTION, EQUIPMENT & FACILITY
- Ratio: 1:10 staff-to-camper ratio
- Groupings: Campers are grouped by age, ability, and experience per the director's discretion.
- Equipment Needed: Please bring your water swimsuit, swim cap, goggles and towel(s)
- Facility: Plachy Pool
- Medical Protocol: Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital.

Checklist of Things to Bring: We recommend that all Day Campers bring a daily pack with the following items: swimsuit, swim cap, goggles, towel, sunglasses, hat, sunscreen, sandals, water bottle, dry land gear (running shoes, t-shirt, athletic shorts, sweatshirt) and any other appropriate clothing for that day’s activities which will be outlined on the first day of camp.

9:00-11:00am- Pool session (Mon-Backstroke, Tues- Freestyle, Wed/Thurs- Turns)
11:30am-12:30pm- Lunch
12:30-2:00pm- Outdoor activity
3:00pm-4:00pm- Pool session (Mon-Breaststroke, Tues- Butterfly, Wed/Thurs- Starts)
TRANSPORTATION
Transportation is not provided. Campers are responsible for getting to and from camp on their own. There is no supervision before or after camp hours so please make arrangements to pick up your child on time.

Adams State University
Swimming instruction takes place at Plachy Pool on the campus of Adams State University. All campers will be supervised 24 hours a day by the camp staff.
