at Nike Tennis Camps

Join us this year for a 3-day camp designed to improve your game, increase your skills and strategy, all in a fun and friendly environment. Campers will have 12+ hours of court time with an amazing staff throughout the weekend.

This year, we are offering three day camps for players of all ability levels. Get better, have fun, and immerse yourself in the ultimate tennis camp experience with instruction from expert coaches.

    Sekou Coker Bangoura Sr.

    Camp Director

    Sekou Bangoura Sr. is a USPTA certified Level 1 tennis professional. He owns his own company, Sekou Bangoura International Tennis Academy (SBITA) that specializes in tennis training for tennis players from Juniors to ATP/W'TA touring professionals. Some of Sekou's famous students have included: Andre Agassi Pete Sampras Jim Courier Jimmy Arias Venus Williams Serena Williams Monica Seles > Maria Sharapova Sekou has trained his son Sekou Bangoura, Jr. (Junior), since he was 3 years old. Junior reached the #1 USTA Boys' 18s ranking in the USA in 2010. He is currently ranked 575 on the ATP tour and rising. Sekou has said his love for the game of tennis and children inspired him to become a tennis-teaching pro.

    He continues to coach top-ranked juniors at the Sekou Bangoura International Tennis Academy in Sarasota, Florida. Sekou Bangoura has made his mark in the international world of tennis as both a player and trainer for the last 35 years. He has over 20 years playing experience in international and collegiate competition. Sekou was a senior instructor at Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy in Bradenton, Florida from 1984 to 1992, when he left to establish his own academy. Featured in an article in USPTA's ADDVantage magazine, titled *Watching 'dad' teach inspires young talent," Sekou has appeared in numerous newspaper, magazine and television sports interviews, and he has performed free-lance tennis video analysis and correction. As a USPTA pro, Sekou has directed/participated in many tennis clinics in the USA, France, Spain, Portugal, Senegal, Guinea, Korea, China, Dominican Republic, Italy, Canada and Germany. The activities include: > Clinic for USTA Florida Section Summer Daytona Beach, Florida 2008-2009 - Video Analysis, Travel and Player Development for Parents. Coaching, conditioning, video analysis, drills, match play, match evaluations, tactics, mental toughness and tournaments 1992 - Present > Organized and Director of summer camp in Grün- Weiss Tennis Klub in Mannheim, Germany, 2006-2007 - Conducted several clinics featuring private lessons, player analysis, match play at Tennis Club de Paris, Paris, France, 1990-1992 Sekou earned a B.A. degree in History and International Relations from the University of South Florida in 1999. He also has an Associate's degree in International Relations from Manatee Community College in Bradenton, Florida in 1997 and an English-as-a-Second-Language degree from the State University of New York College in New Paltz, New York in 1984. Sekou is fluent in English and French and has a working knowledge of Spanish.

CAMP PROGRAM INFORMATION

  • Camp Type(s) Offered: 3 Day Camp (Friday 3:00pm-6:30pm, Saturday 9:00am-2:30pm, & Sunday 9:00am-1:00pm)
  • Gender: Coed
  • Age Range: 18+
  • Skill Level: Beginner & Intermediate

SKILL LEVELS & GROUP PLACEMENT

Upon arrival, all participants are evaluated by the staff so that their own instructional needs can be addressed throughout the week. Participants are then sorted by ability first, then age per the Camp Director's discretion - adjustments are made as needed during camp.

While there are many ways to define skill levels, the following descriptions are what the Camp Directors at Nike Tennis Camps will use to organize and group camp participants. At the time of registration, please choose the level that best represents your experience:

  • Beginner: Players who are new to the game and have little to no formal instruction. They are focused on learning the fundamentals and the basic rules of tennis. Typically play for recreation and have very little or no match-play experience. USTA rating of 2.0 or lower, or no rating.

  • Intermediate: Players who can serve and maintain rallies with some consistency. They are fairly reliable with medium-paced shots but may struggle with certain strokes and lack precision in directional control and power. Generally play recreationally at their local club. USTA rating of 3.0.

  • Check-in: 3:00pm-3:30pm Friday
  • Check-out: 1:00pm Sunday

CAMP SCHEDULE

  • Daily Schedule: Friday 3:00pm-6:30pm, Saturday 9:00am-2:30pm, Sunday 9:00am-1:00pm

EQUIPMENT, FACILITY & MORE

  • Meals: Lunch is not included, please bring your own lunch and snacks each day.
  • Equipment Needed: All campers must bring a tennis racquet, tennis shoes, and a water bottle
  • Facility: Cedars Tennis Resort & Club
  • Inclement Weather Plan: Indoor Fitness, strategy, and video analysis
  • Medical Protocol: Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital

CANCELLATION POLICY

Cancellations, for any reason, received at least seven (7) days before the camp start date, will result in a camp VOUCHER for all tuition fees paid, valid through the following calendar year. Your VOUCHER is transferable to any family member and may be used for any sport. Cash refunds will be given only with the purchase of Cancellation Protection. Those who cancel their camp session within seven (7) days of the camp start date will receive a camp VOUCHER for 50% of the camp tuition. Individuals who DO NOT attend their registered session (no-shows) will forfeit their full tuition payment.

ACCOMMODATIONS & TRAVEL

  • This is a Day Camp only; housing is not included in the camp tuition. Campers are responsible for arranging their own overnight accommodations if needed.
  • US Sports Camps, the Camp Director, camp staff, and the host facility are not liable for any travel-related arrangements, including but not limited to flights, hotels, Airbnbs, or rental cars.
  • We recommend booking refundable or flexible travel and accommodation options in case of any changes to the camp schedule.

  • Signed Health & Release forms and waivers (forms completed online do not need to be printed and turned in at camp)
