Best-known for his player development ability, Dustin Taylor was named head coach of Oklahoma State men’s tennis in June of 2021.

    Dustin Taylor

    Dustin Taylor

    Co-Director

Taylor served as associate head coach at the University of Virginia from 2014-17, where he was a part of three consecutive NCAA team championships, an ITA national indoor championship and two NCAA singles champions in his three seasons in Charlottesville.

After his time at Virginia and before arriving at OSU, he was a lead national coach for U.S. Tennis, helping top Americans Denis Kudla and Tim Smyczek break into the top 100 in the world rankings. Taylor was a driving force in the organization’s Team USA initiative to help support and assist the top American players on the ATP Tour.

From 2010-14, he served his first term as a national coach, overseeing top junior and collegiate players in their transition to the professional ranks. Included on the list of top 100-ranked players he worked with during that time are Steve Johnson, Tennys Sandgren, Bradley Klahn, Marcos Giron and more.

In addition to his coaching and development work at the USTA, Taylor also organized tournament schedules and made the final decision on all ATP and ITF wildcards in USTA Pro Circuit events – a role that required him to be aware of worldwide tournament results and rankings, the status of players’ eligibility and ever-changing rules and regulations. He did all this while continuously communicating with tournament directors throughout the country to ensure proper execution and dissemination of selected wildcards.

Notable appointments during his career include serving as head men’s tennis coach for the 2011 Pan-American Games and leading the 2008 New York Sportimes of World Team Tennis to a semifinal appearance.

Taylor played collegiately at the University of Tulsa, where he was an All-American and NCAA quarterfinalist in 2003 and the Farnsworth Senior Player of the Year in 2004. A four-time all-Western Athletic Conference honoree, Taylor earned WAC player of the week honors seven times, a mark that set the record for all sports.

A 2005 graduate from Tulsa with a degree in business, Taylor married his college sweetheart, the former Jennie Huber. They have five children; McKenzie, Brooklyn, Tatum, Decker and Hayes.

  • Sergey Avdeyev Headshot

    Sergey Adveyev

    Co-Director

Sergey Avdeyev will assume the role of interim head coach for the Oklahoma State Cowgirls' upcoming 2026 spring season. Sergey first joined the Oklahoma State coaching staff ahead of the 2024-25 season as an associate head coach for the men's tennis program, adding ten years of NCAA Division I coaching experience to the Pokes staff.

    Sergey Avdeyev Headshot

    Sergey Adveyev

    Co-Director

Avdeyev's first head coaching gig came in 2019 at the University of Texas San Antonio Men's tennis team. While at the helm, Avdeyev was named 2023 Conference USA Coach of the Year, posted a 58-43 record in his five seasons and broke many school records along the way: their highest team ranking (34), their first-ever NCAA at-large bid, most consecutive wins (14), highest-ranked win (No. 28 VCU), doubles regional champions, highest-ranked doubles team (#6 in the country), highest home match attendance, and most conference awards.

Avdeyev's leadership goes far from just the tennis courts, as he served as the UTSA Game-plan Committee Chair (Student-Athlete Experience) in 2022-23, the San Antonio International Pro Exhibition Tennis Tournament Supervisor in 2023 and ITA Texas Regional Committee Board Member 2022- 23 and Chair in 2023-24.

In 2016, Avdeyev was named Men's Associate Head Coach for the Old Dominion University tennis team. Under Avdeyev's tutelage, multiple athletes earned regional championships, including a couple of doubles championships and three NCAA individual appearances. Avdeyev coached Aziz Kijametovic to a national singles and doubles ranking and a Regional Singles crown victory. Receiving ITA Atlantic Regional Assistant Coach of the Year in 2018, Avdeyev led the Monarchs to the top 25 national rank, the C-USA Championship trophy, and a bid to the 2019 NCAA Tournament.

Returning to his alma mater in 2011, Avdeyev served as the Director of Junior Development for the Oklahoma University Tennis Club. Avdeyev got his first coaching position at the collegiate level in 2015 as the OU's men's tennis second assistant coach. In 2016, the Sooners made an unpredictable run to the NCAA championship match, upsetting No. 3 UCLA, No. 6 Wake Forest and No. 7 Georgia, but ultimately fell short to top-ranked Virginia.

During his coaching career at Oklahoma, Avdeyev coached and developed two All-Americans (Axel Alverez Llamas and Alex Ghilea).

Before stepping outside the lines, the Kazakhstan native, Avdeyev, competed on the professional tennis circuit, ranking in the top 10 in his country, and was a junior Davis Cup team member.

Playing in the top spot for OU his senior season, Avdeyev captained the Sooners, where he was ranked in both singles and doubles.

Born on July 21, 1987, Avdeyev and his wife, Lisa, have three kids; Annalisa, Aleksandra and Mikhail.

While there are many ways to define skill levels, the following descriptions are what the Camp Directors at Nike Tennis Camps will use to organize and group camp participants. At the time of registration, please choose the level that best represents your athlete's experience:

  • Beginner: Players new to the game with little to no formal tennis instruction. They are still learning the fundamentals, focusing on basic skills and rules of the game. Typically play for recreation and have minimal match-play experience.

  • Intermediate: Players who can serve and sustain rallies with consistency. They are comfortable hitting medium-paced shots but may struggle with all strokes and directional control. Some may have participated in local tournaments and possess a UTR rating or are equivalent to a High School JV player.

  • Advanced: Players with dependable strokes and solid directional control. They demonstrate a strong competitive spirit, improved court coverage, and are developing strategies for both singles and doubles play. These players frequently compete in tournaments and have a USTA or UTR rating, or are equivalent to a High School Varsity player.

Facility Information

Michael and Anne Greenwood Tennis Center

Built in 2014, the Michael and Anne Greenwood Tennis Center has already provided Oklahoma State's men's and women's tennis programs with an unbelievable home field advantage.

The Greenwood Tennis Center, the second major project in Oklahoma State University's Athletic Village, was unveiled in January 2014 with the indoor portion of the complex hosting its first varsity matches. The facility's twelve outdoor courts were opened later that year.

The 50,000 square foot tennis center is located just north of Boone Pickens Stadium. The indoor facility houses six tennis courts, along with coaches' offices, locker rooms, and a sports medicine hub complete with a hydrotherapy center. The indoor facilities are able to seat at least 350 spectators.

The center includes 12 lighted outdoor tennis courts in two sets of six courts. The courts are set up to allow fan viewing of each match being played in both the indoor and outdoor venues.

After a tour of the Greenwood Tennis Center, a tweet by the United States Tennis Association pronounced OSU's new complex as one of the top two collegiate facilities in the country. The organization later recognized the Greenwood Center at the 2016 United States Tennis Association Outstanding Facility Awards. It was the only collegiate facility to receive the honor for 2016.
