Basketball Video Tip
The Kyrie Irving Drill
Kyrie Irving is one of the best finishers in the game and an expert around the basket. There is no denying his talent and ability, but what he does can be learned. In this video drill, presented by Jaron Jones, director of the new Nike Basketball Camp at Alpharetta High School, and Elite Hoops Basketball, the coined “Kyrie Irving Drill” is demonstrated to help show you how to master and these three important skills.
1. Ball Control
2. working on a quick first step
3. Finishing at the rim or with a short jump shot
To step up the drill, have the player start at the half court line and then dribble to the 3-pointer line. The coach should be on the block waiting with a ball. At the same time the player and coach should pass the ball to each other’s right hand 3 times. The player will then rip the ball, drive to the basket, and take the shot.
