Tennis Tip: Down the Middle Solves the Riddle

Coaches Corner Web

Jesse Medvene-Collins, Associate Head Women's Coach at College of William & Mary, offers a great tip for doubles ball placement.

"One thing that our team works on and as coaches we preach in doubles is the value of hitting the ball through the middle.  When you have a ball you can attack, the very best place to hit this ball is through the middle of the court and follow it in!  By doing this, you take away your opponents ability to use an angle and you give your partner at the net a greater chance to poach!!  The percentage of going over this part of the net is also higher with the net being lowest in the middle.  Keep driving the ball through the middle and POACH!"
