Tennis Tip: Quick Feet in Tennis

Nike Tennis Camps 28

Looking to improve your positioning and shot technique?  Sometimes it’s simply in the feet!  Check out the great tip below from veteran coach, Steve Contardi – founder of the Contardi Tennis Camps and Director of Tennis at The Club at Harpers Point in Cincinnati, OH.

Contardi says, “Most students spend the majority of their practices working on perfecting groundstrokes, volleys, and serves.  Stroke technique is certainly an important aspect of the game, but sometimes a simple adjustment in footwork can improve your shots and overall game.”

Contardi suggests, “Today when you practice, count your steps between shots - while waiting for your opponent to hit, while moving to the ball, while adjusting your position, and while you recover from the shot. Try taking 8-10 steps between shots (the pros typically take 12- 14).  This allows you to adjust your positioning and will keep your feet moving through the entire shot.”

For more great tips and instruction from Coach Contardi, check out the Contardi Nike Tennis Camp at Great Wolf Lodge!  Steeped in tradition, this camp has established its great reputation over the years both at Miami University of Ohio and at Ohio University and now we are holding camp at the Great Wolf Lodge in Mason, Ohio. Coach Contardi and his amazing staff provide a special environment for kids to elevate their games and have fun along the way. Come to the Contardi Tennis Camp for a summer camp experience that will last forever!
