Volleyball Tips to Improve your Spike

Spiking is a great way for volleyball players to increase their chances of scoring and makes the game more exciting. In order to improve your spiking skills, it is important to perfect the fundamentals before working on increasing power and accuracy. Come practice your spike, using the tips below at our Nike Volleyball Camps this 2021 winter!
Tip #1 Be in Spiking Position: In volleyball, the striker should stand behind the attack line in the front row and be on either the left or the right side. Pay attention to where the setter is, this will help determine your positioning.
Tip #2 Pay attention to your opponents: You will always want to look for spots your opponent has left open that is away from their defense is to get the best chance of your spike landing on the court.
Tip #3 Practice often: The best way to get better at spiking is repetition. Make sure you get the steps down and work on your jumping. With repetition, spiking will become easier.
Tip #4 Switch it up: Once you have the basics down and feel comfortable with the fundamentals of spiking, switch it up! Find ways to keep your opponents from know when the spike is coming and your success rate will increase!
