This Track & Field Camp is designed as a comprehensive training camp program with a focus on track & field fundamentals including drills, pacing, strength endurance, speed, and core strengthening as well as the mental edge training necessary for top athletic performances.

    Camp Director Scott Purdy

    In his long tenure as Loomis Chaffee's head men's track and field coach, Scott Purdy has lead his team to winning 14 Founders League Championships, including 11 of the last 12. In 2024, two of Purdy's athletes competed in the New Balance Indoor National Championships. In triple jump, senior Orion Browne finished 5th at 48-3.5, earning All-American honors. On the disance side, sophomore Alex Fisher finished 13th overall and the second-fastest sophomore in the 2 mile in 9:03.17. He also was the fastest sophomore in the mile, at 4:16.41

Camp Details

SECURE YOUR SPOT!

The Nike Loomis Chaffee Track & Field Camp offers an experienced coaching staff for all event training, except for pole vault. Educational lectures on topics including training, drills and technique, plyometrics, motivation and goal setting, nutrition, and much more are included in the daily breakouts. Video analysis is used to teach campers about proper form. Join us this summer in Windsor, Connecticut for an action-packed week.

Campers can choose from all event disciplines (not including Steeplechase, Pole Vault and Hammer Throw) - Sprints/Hurdles, Jumps, and Middle Distance.

2025 OVERVIEW

  • Dates: June 29-July 2, 2025 (Sun-Wed)
  • Age Group: 12-17

  • Meals: All meals are provided at the on-campus dining facility. Day campers do not receive breakfast or dinner. All campers are provided lunch.

Overnight Campers should be prepared for activity following check-in on Sunday. The first session will start at 3:00pm sharp.

All necessary camp information is on this page. If there are any imperative changes prior to camp start, registered campers will be notified via email and this webpage will be updated!

Per Connecticut and Massachusetts Board of Health guidelines, all campers must fill out the CT Health & Liability Form and meet the requirements outlined in the Massachusetts List of Required Vaccinations.

HOUSING

  • Dorm: Assigned at check in
  • Campers Per Room: 1, 2, or 3 (based on dorm availability)
  • Roommates: Guaranteed if requested 14 days prior to camp
  • Bathrooms: Shared on floor
  • Linens: Not provided. Please bring Size Twin XL sheets.
  • Air Conditioning: No, fan recommended
  • Key Deposit: $50 check made payable to US Sports Camps

Staff members reside in campers’ quarters and participate in all activities.

WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE FEES

  • Overnight Campers: Features several instructional sessions per day, three hot meals, and lodging in boarding school residence halls. An evening recreation program is also included.
  • Day Campers: This option offers the same features as the resident camp minus lodging & breakfast/dinner (Day Campers should eat breakfast before daily check-in).

We offer the following sibling discounts for our running camps:

  • $15 off for weekend clinics

  • $20 off for day camp sessions

  • $25 off for overnight sessions

INSTRUCTION, EQUIPMENT & FACILITY

  • Ratio: 1:10 staff to camper ratio
  • Grouped by: age, ability, and event
  • Evaluation: by coaching staff
  • Equipment: Campers should bring at least one pair of broken in running shoes. Event shoes/spikes are recommended but not required. Please be sure to properly mark your equipment, so that it can be easily identified.

TRANSPORTATION

Transportation is not provided. Campers are responsible for getting to and from camp on their own. There is no supervision before or after camp hours so please make arrangements to pick up your child on time.

Below is a suggested list of clothes, equipment and personal items. US Sports Camps is NOT responsible for lost or stolen articles or money.

GEAR UP FOR CAMP

All Nike Cross Country Campers receive a Nike camp t-shirt as part of their tuition. Additional Nike Camp gear is available for purchase at check-out or can be purchased at any time on our storefront.

MEDICAL PROTOCOL

Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital.

CAMP TUITION PAYMENTS

Full payment of camp fees must be completed by the first day of the month before camp. For example:

  • June Camps: final payment is due on May 1
  • July Camps: final payment is due on June 1
  • August Camps: final payment is due on July 1

Any camper with an unpaid balance 10 days before the start of their camp will forfeit all camp fees paid to date and be removed from the camp.

Your confirmation email shows your balance due and balance due date. Final payments can be made through the US Sports Camps Customer Portal or by phone at 1-800-645-3226.

Loomis chaffee

Conveniently located midway between Boston and New York City in Windsor, Connecticut, the Loomis Chaffee School is one of the most picturesque independent secondary schools in all of New England. Campers train on campus at the new eight-lane track facility and reside in the school dormitories along with the Loomis Chaffee coaching staff.

The facility is designed for teaching: boasting three shot circles, a discus circle, four separate jumping pits, and separate high jump areas. The facility was also recently fitted with lights, enabling us to conduct evening training sessions.

Camp Questions & Answers

What events are offered at Loomis?

Campers can choose from all disciplines (except pole vault and hammer throw). Offered events: throw (shot put, discus, javelin), sprints, hurdles, middle distance (including steeplechase), distance (800m up to the 2 mile), and jumps (high jump, long jump, triple jump).

Does the Health & Release Form need to be signed by a doctor?

Our Health & Release Form does not require a doctor’s signature. This form is required to be filled out accurately, signed by the parent (guardian), and brought with you to the first day of camp.

Are the campers supervised throughout the camp?

Yes, campers are supervised by the coaches and staff. Staff members reside in the same dorms as the campers and provide supervision during instruction, dining times, evening activities, and in the dorm. All staff members complete criminal and sex offender background checks before working the camp.
