GROMS™ Boys and Girls Campers (Age 9-12): The word “grom” or “grommet” typically refers to a young mountain biker under the age of 13 who has more energy than thought possible and wants nothing more than to ride all day long. That's why we've developed a program just for these kids that caters to their needs.

Campers flying under the status of an UM will be met at their gate by a staff member upon their arrival at PDX. For their departure a staff member will help them get checked in and wait with them at their gate until they are on their way.

NAME OF PERSON PICKING UP UM’S AT PDX
When traveling as a UM, most airlines require additional information about the person meeting your UM. If at all possible, when the airline asks for the name of the person picking up your UM, please give the airline “A We are Camp Representative” and our phone number 503.206.8520. If they will not accept this, please give them “Hannah Bellenbaum” (our airport manager) in place. One week before the start of your session our office will email you with the exact name of who will be meeting your child at the gate. After providing you with this information, it’s crucial that you update the information for the airline. If they need an address, it is: 59550 E US 26, Sandy OR 97055

Activities

We know it’s MTB camp, but half the fun is off the bike!

After taking daily biking trips to the best trails in the Pacific Northwest, head back to campus to recharge your batteries, grab a Grizzly Grilled Cheese™ or an Otter Pop and get the party going again. There’s plenty of awesome activities going on every afternoon and evening that you can choose from while hanging out with your friends, guest pros, coaches, and counselors.

The mission of Milepost35 (formerly Windells) is to provide a fun, safe learning environment for all campers to unleash their full potential, regardless of age, gender, race, or ability. We aim to create a place where campers can feel comfortable being who they are, while also doing what they love. We operate on the 28-acre Wy’east Mountain Academy campus, which is located at the base of Mt. Hood, just 45 minutes east of Portland, OR. Our private campus allows campers the freedom to enjoy the activities of their choice with 24-hour supervision. Campers are required to wear helmets while participating in skateboarding, snowboarding, skiing, and biking. All youth camp programs are alcohol-, drug-, tobacco-, and violence-free.

"WE CAN DO IT BETTER"

That is our founding philosophy: We can do it better. Better than we did last summer, better than we did today, and better than the rest. We are always improving and always striving to make it a better experience for all our campers: boys and girls, kids and adults, and those new to mountain biking all the way up to those working hard for that next video part or podium.

We pour our hearts into Milepost 35 each summer because we love mountain biking. It's not just the act of biking we love, but also the experiences we have, the people we meet, and most importantly, the lives biking changes. For that reason our mission is:

"LIFE IMPROVEMENT THROUGH MOUNTAIN BIKING"

We are always seeking a good spot to bike with good people, so we hope you’ll come to find your new spot with us to learn something new, to have some life-changing fun, and to meet some new folks from around the globe who share your passion for mountain biking. See you soon!

Accommodations

Our private 28-acre campus in Sandy, Oregon is tucked away at the base of Mt. Hood (the mountain is home to a year-round snowfield for snowboarding and skiing and some of the PNW’s most renowned mountain biking in the summer months). M35 cabins are furnished and renovated, each sleeping 8-12 campers and featuring hardwood floors in common areas and their own bathroom. Each cabin on campus overlooks the courtyard, with tons of skate-able and ride-able features, slacklines, tetherball, firepits, trampolines, and so much more.

Our team of mountain bike coaches are knowledgeable, experienced, and work with campers at every skill level. Campers are placed into small coaching groups with 6-8 campers per coach. These coaching groups are based on skill levels so that each individual feels comfortable progressing with riders of similar ability. Before you come to camp you’ll fill out an ability questionnaire which will help us place you in the best possible coaching group.

Facilities

Air Bag and Mulch Jump: For those who are ready for the big stuff, we’ve got features to enable you to progress as quickly and safely as possible. Work with your coach to practice larger airs, inverts, and spins into our 45-foot airbag. Once you’re comfortable and your coach gives you the green light, take it to the mulch jump, which has the same run-in and ramp geometry, but features a matched landing with a cushy layer of mulch.

The Concrete Jungle: Our Concrete Jungle skateboard and bike park stretches throughout the entire campus with over 50,000 square feet of rideable terrain, featuring a mini-ramp section, concrete bowl, quarter pipes, spines, banks, hips, a vert wall with pool coping, rollers, ledges, rails, steps, manual pads, and so much more for you to find endless lines.

B.O.B. – The Building Out Back: B.O.B. is the largest indoor skate and bike park in the Northwest, featuring 12,500 square feet of creative space for any weather. In addition, B.O.B. houses two Olympic trampolines and a 20x20’ airbag foam pit to practice new aerial maneuvers before bringing them to the dirt. B.O.B. also includes new indoor super trampoline, fitness center, rock wall, and cardio and stretching zone.

Trampolines, Airbags and Foam Pits: Dial in your tricks before taking them to the trails on the trampolines and foam pits in B.O.B., including two MaxAir Super Quad 14x14’ trampolines. The MaxAir Super Quad features a smooth, powerful bounce with plenty of space to focus on mechanics and development of new tricks, from basic rotations all the way to advanced spins.
