Camp Overview

Improve your game and have serious fun
at Nike Basketball Camps

Take your game to the next level at the Nike Basketball Camp hosted at Lutheran West High School! Train alongside One Five Sports staff and athletes of all levels while developing your footwork, ball-handling, and shooting skills in a positive, supportive setting.

Under the tutelage of Coach Pottkotter, our camps feature a teaching progression with an emphasis on 3-on-3 competitions, drills, skill work, and fundamentals. The goal is to develop better basketball players—players who think the game, understand spacing, make smart decisions, and compete on both ends.

“Understanding spacing and movement away from the ball are crucial skills that many players need to develop. At camp, we prioritize these fundamentals during 3-on-3 all week and discuss strategies for reading the defense and creating space. Throughout camp, we employ various dribble and pass restrictions to encourage effective player and ball movement.” -Kyle Pottkotter, Director (Columbus, OH)

The Complete Skills Camp helps players of all abilities develop athletically, refine fundamental basketball skills and enhance their skill set at the post, wing or guard position.

Highlights Include

  • Fundamental instruction, lectures, and team games
  • Daily emphasis on individual development, team play, and more
  • Receive a Nike Basketball Camp t-shirt and other prizes!
  • Teaching progression featuring an emphasis on 3 on 3 competition

Coach Pottkotter began his coaching career at the NCAA Division III power, The College of Wooster. In three years, the Fighting Scots were 71-14, won two North Coast Athletic Conference Championships, and advanced to the NCAA Championships twice, including a trip to the Sweet 16. In addition to numerous players earning all-conference awards, he helped coach two players who earned All-American honors, including one who would go on to be named the NCAA Division III National Player of the Year. During his time at The College of Wooster, Pottkotter was mentored by Head Coach Steve Moore, who ranks in the top five in both wins and winning percentage in NCAA Division III history.

In 2002, Pottkotter returned to coach at his alma mater, Denison University, as an assistant to Bob Ghiloni. Within three years, the Big Red had more than doubled their win total prior to his arrival. He helped lead them to one of their best seasons in over a decade, which included earning the right to host a conference tournament game. While at Denison, Pottkotter helped recruit and coach the school’s all-time leading scorer, in addition to numerous all-conference honorees. While at Denison, Pottkotter also served as the Head Men’s Golf Coach.

After Denison, Pottkotter moved on to another traditional Division III power, Otterbein University, in Westerville, OH. In three years, the Cardinals had doubled their win total and Pottkotter helped coach the OAC’s leading scorer and rebounder. While at Otterbein, Pottkotter worked for legendary coach Dick Reynolds.

In 2008, Coach Pottkotter began hosting and directing Nike Basketball Camps in central Ohio. Hundreds of boys and girls have come from all over the country to work on and improve their games in the summer. He continues to expand his Nike Basketball Camp offerings for both boys and girls throughout the state of Ohio.

Coach Pottkotter earned a B.A. in History from Denison University in 1999 and a M.S.S in Sport Coaching from the United States Sports Academy in 2002.
