at Nike Basketball Camps

Take your shooting, dribbling, and ball-handling skills to the next level in summer 2026 at Salesian College Preparatory! Get ahead of the competition at this day camp in Richmond, CA with instruction from Salesian College Prep Head Basketball Coaches Steve Pezzola and Bill Mellis. Focus on developing your fundamental skillset, shooting technique, situational game play, and much more!

The High Intensity Camp is for players entering 6th-8th grade with 1-2 years of school and/or travel team experience. Camp will make use of high-tech equipment with equal focus on offense, defense, practice concepts, and game study.

The Complete Skills Camp helps players of all abilities develop athletically, refine fundamental basketball skills and enhance their skill set at the post, wing or guard position.

    Coach Steve Pezzola, current President of Salesian College Preparatory just completed his 14th season as the Head Girls Basketball Coach for the Pride. Pezzola holds an impressive 354-86 win/loss record with an average win percentage of over 80%.

    During the 2022-2023 season, Pezzola lead the Pride to a 27-5 record, the TCAL Rock Championship, the prestigious NorCal Open Division Championship and the team finished as NorCal Open Division Runner-up and 6th in the State according to CalHiSports. During the 2021-22 season, Pezzola lead the Pride to a 21-5 record as well as the TCAL Rock Champions, NorCal Division I Champions, and State Division I Champions. Pezzola has led the team to two NorCal Division IV Championships, one NorCal Open Division Championship, and the NorCal Division 1 Championship in 2022 . He has won the Division IV NCS title four times, NCS Division III title three times, and most recently the NCS Open Division title as well as the 2022 Division I State Championship Title.

    Coach Pezzola has accumulated the following accolades over the years:

    Coach Bill Mellis just completed his 26th season as the Head Boys Basketball Coach at Salesian College Preparatory. He has compiled a record of 641-181, including 15 League Titles, 11 Section Championships, 4 Nor Cal Titles, and 2 State Championships (2009 & 2012).

    Coach Mellis has been named Coach of the Year 11 times by various media outlets, most notably the 2012 ESPN Rise Cal-Hi Sports California State Coach of the Year, the 2017 California Coaches Association State Coach of the Year, and the 2019 North Coast Section Boys Basketball Honor Coach.

2026 DATES

  • High Intensity (Ages 11-14): June 15-18
  • Complete Skills I (Ages 9-14): June 29-July 2
  • Complete Skills II (Ages 9-14): July 6-9
  • Complete Skills III (Ages 9-14): July 13-16
High Intensity & Complete Skills Camp Hours
  • Check-in: Monday at 8:30AM
  • Closing Ceremony: Thursday at 1:30PM
  • Meals: Lunch is not provided. Please bring a packed lunch.
  • Daily Hours: MON-THURS 9AM-2PM

WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE FEE?

  • Instruction: Morning and afternoon training sessions
  • Supervision: Campers are supervised by staff during camp hours
  • Lunch: Lunch is not provided, please bring a sack lunch each day
  • Camp T-shirt & Prizes: Campers at multi-day camps will receive a Nike Basketball Camps t-shirt. *1-day clinics and fall, winter and spring camps excluded.
  • Basketballs: Basketballs are provided for instruction during camp

INSTRUCTION & FACILITY

  • Ratio: 1:10 staff-to-camper ratio
  • Groupings: Campers are grouped by ability, age, and experience, per the Director's discretion
  • Facility: Indoor courts
  • Medical Protocol: Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital.

PRE-CAMP CHECKLIST

If there are any imperative changes prior to camp start, registered campers will be notified via email and this webpage will be updated!

PACKING LIST

Below is a suggested list of clothes, equipment, and personal items. US Sports Camps is NOT responsible for lost or stolen articles or money.

CAMPER EVALUATION

Upon arrival, all participants are evaluated by the staff so that their own instructional needs can be addressed throughout the week. In addition, campers will be evaluated and then split up into smaller groups according to age and ability.

MEDICAL PROTOCOL

Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital.

COMPANY POLICIES

If you need to cancel for any reason up until 24 hours prior to camp check-in, you will receive a camp credit voucher for tuition fees paid that is good through the following year for any sport and is transferable to any immediate family member. Participants who DO NOT attend their registered session (no-shows for any reason) or who do not contact USSC to cancel at least 24 hours prior to camp check-in will not receive a voucher or refund. Cash refunds are given only if Cancellation Protection was purchased at the time of registration and the cancellation is made before your balance due date.

TRANSPORTATION

Transportation is not provided by the camp to or from any airports. If you are flying to or from camp, we recommend using an airport shuttle service. Please schedule flights as close as you can to the check-in times on the first day and check-out times on the last day.
