Join us in 2025 for an action-packed summer at Sarasota Christian School, located in Sarasota, FL! This boys-only camp will help take your game to the next level with a mix of drills, scrimmages, and technical instruction in a fun and encouraging environment.

The Complete Skills Camp helps players of all abilities develop athletically, refine fundamental basketball skills and enhance their skill set at the post, wing or guard position.

    BJ Ivey is the Director of Athletics at Sarasota High School.

    B.J. Ivey served in Sarasota County Schools as a teacher and coach at Riverview High School. During his 13 years as head coach at Riverview High School his teams won 270 games, 8 district titles and made 3 region finals appearances. B.J. was named "Boys Basketball Coach of the Year" by the Sarasota-Bradenton Herald Tribune in 2011, 2012, & 2016. Ivey also led The Rams to their only appearance in the State Finals in 2016. Ivey's programs produced 5 Sarasota and Manatee County "Player of the Year" winners and during this span he spent 8 years coaching Nike Team Florida in Nike's prestigious Elite Youth Basketball League. All in all, he's had the opportunity to coach over 40 players that went on to play Division 1 Basketball in his time as a head coach.

    As a teacher, B.J. Ivey was named the 2017 Sarasota County Teacher of the Year. He was also awarded the Shine Award by Governor Rick Scott for greatly impacting the lives of students in the classroom. The Baltimore Orioles recognized Ivey as their 2018 Community Hero and in 2020 he was inducted into the Southwest Florida Fellowship of Christian Athletes Hall of Fame. In 2023, B.J. was presented with the Ripple Effect Award by Sarasota County Schools, an award that recognizes and celebrates the lasting impact he has on students, staff, athletes, and peers.

    Kevin Bruinsma is entering his sixth season as the Head Coach of the Boys Varsity Basketball team at Sarasota Christian. During his five years at the helm the Blazers are the only school in Sarasota County to have posted five straight winning regular seasons, and are the fourth winningest program in Sarasota/Manatee Counties.

    In the 2019-2020 season they won 12 of 16 games to close out the season as they increased their winning percentage by 23% from the previous year. In the 2020-2021 season they won seven straight games to end the season, had the toughest strength of schedule, and highest state ranking in the previous six seasons. Bruinsma was voted back to back FACA District 16-2A Coach of the Year. In the 2021-2022 season the Blazers won 18 games, highlighted by winning 14 straight games which set a record for longest winning streak in school history. They won the Holiday Tournament Championship, and ended the year with their highest state ranking since 2015-2016. In the 2022-2023 season the Blazers won the SSAA 1A Championship, and advanced to the Championship of their Holiday Tournament for the second consecutive year. Most recently in the 2023-2024 season the Blazers won 16 games, advanced to the FHSAA Regional Tournament for the first time since the 2016-2017 season, and won the Holiday Tournament Championship. Bruinsma was voted FACA District 16-2A Coach of the Year for the third time in five years.

    Kevin prepped at Grand Rapids Christian (MI) as a two sport athlete playing Basketball & Soccer. As a Basketball stand out he was named, team captain, All-City, All-Area, & All-Tournament Team. Kevin accepted an athletic scholarship to attend Spring Arbor University (MI) in 2004.

    A two-sport athlete at Spring Arbor University, Bruinsma was voted the Most Improved Player on the 2005 NCCAA National Championship team in Basketball, along with being selected as Team MVP, and two-time All-Region Soccer selection. He graduated from Spring Arbor in 2008 with a degree in secondary education.

    Bruinsma served as the Junior Varsity Boy’s Basketball Coach at Concord High School (MI) for two years along with working as an advanced scout for NCAA D3 Albion College (MI) during the 2007-2009 seasons.

    Upon graduation from Spring Arbor, Bruinsma served as an intern for the Orlando Magic of the NBA during the Summer of 2008 where he focused on scouting & video breakdown. The Orlando Magic won the Eastern Conference and went on to the NBA Finals that season.

    Bruinsma served as a Graduate Assistant at Cleveland State University where he obtained his Graduate Degree in Sports Management from 2009-2012. During his tenure the Vikings won the Horizon League Championship in 2011, participated in two post-season National Invitational Tournaments, and produced multiple professional players along with two NBA players.

    Following a successful run at CSU, Bruinsma was hired at the University of Portland as the Director of Basketball Technology for the 2012-2013 season. The Pilots increased their win total from the previous year as Bruinsma managed the only interactive video teaching board in the entire country.

    After 13 months on the bluff, Bruinsma was hired at Youngstown State University where he held a variety of positions over the course of six seasons. As an Assistant Coach Kevin was viewed as one of the best recruiting evaluators and opponent scouts in the region.

    Kevin came to Sarasota Christian with ten years of NCAA Division 1 coaching experience and having coached 20+ professional players. His faith based approach to coaching is clear as the program’s motto is: Winning is always our goal, it’s never our purpose.

  • Session I (Full Day, Ages 10-16): June 23-26
  • Session II (Half Day, Ages 8-12): July 14-18

  • Check-in: Monday at 8:30AM
  • Closing Ceremony: Thursday at 3:30 PM
  • Daily Hours: MON-THURS 9AM-4PM
Session II Camp Hours
  • Check-in: Monday at 8:30AM
  • Closing Ceremony: Friday at 11:30 AM
  • Daily Hours: MON-FRI 9AM-12PM

WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE FEE?

  • Instruction: Morning and afternoon (Session I only) training sessions
  • Supervision: Campers are supervised by staff during camp hours
  • Lunch: Lunch is not provided, please bring a sack lunch
  • Camp T-shirt & Prizes: Campers at multi-day camps will receive a Nike Basketball Camps t-shirt and prizes. *1-day clinics excluded
  • Basketballs: Basketballs are provided for instruction during camp

TEAM DISCOUNT

If you have a group of 5 or more campers registering for the same camp, each camper is eligible for a $25 discount. If you have a group of 10 or more campers registering for the same camp, each camper is eligible for a $40 discount. Please fill out the Team Discount - Basketball form with the name of your group and the names of each camper enrolling in the camp and we will create a unique discount code for your group.

INSTRUCTION & FACILITY

  • Ratio: 1:10 staff-to-camper ratio
  • Groupings: Campers are grouped by ability, age, and experience, per the Director's discretion
  • Facility: Indoor courts
  • Medical Protocol: Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital.

Camp Meals

Lunch is not included. Please bring a packed lunch or lunch money.

BASKETBALLS

Nike All Court Elite Basketballs can be purchased during registration for $35. Players can choose between a size 6 (28.5", standard girls) or size 7 (29.5", standard boys) ball, which will be passed out on the last day of camp. Please note that it is not required to bring a basketball to camp as they are provided by the staff for camp instruction.

If there are any imperative changes prior to camp start, registered campers will be notified via email and this webpage will be updated!

Below is a suggested list of clothes, equipment, and personal items. US Sports Camps is NOT responsible for lost or stolen articles or money.

CAMPER EVALUATION

Upon arrival, all participants are evaluated by the staff so that their own instructional needs can be addressed throughout the week. In addition, campers will be evaluated and then split up into smaller groups according to age and ability.

MEDICAL PROTOCOL

Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital.

COMPANY POLICIES

If you need to cancel for any reason up until 24 hours prior to camp check-in, you will receive a camp credit voucher for tuition fees paid that is good through the following year for any sport and is transferable to any immediate family member. Participants who DO NOT attend their registered session (no-shows for any reason) or who do not contact USSC to cancel at least 24 hours prior to camp check-in will not receive a voucher or refund. Cash refunds are given only if Cancellation Protection was purchased at the time of registration and the cancellation is made before your balance due date.

TRANSPORTATION

Transportation is not provided by the camp to or from any airports. If you are flying to or from camp, we recommend using an airport shuttle service. Please schedule flights as close as you can to the check-in times on the first day and check-out times on the last day.
