Get ahead of the competition in summer 2025 at Shorter University in Rome, GA! Work on your shooting technique, positional work, ball-handling skills, gameplay tactics, and more with help from Shorter University Head Coach LaSheena Brooks and staff.

The Complete Skills Camp helps players of all abilities develop athletically, refine fundamental basketball skills and enhance their skill set at the post, wing or guard position.

    LaSheena Brooks was hired in August of 2021 as the Head Women's Basketball Coach. She enters into her fourth year in the 2024 season. Brooks came from Auburn University Montgomery where she served as Assistant Coach/ Recruiting Coordinator for two seasons.

    In her first season as Head Coach for the Hawks, Brooks helped the Hawks to two conference wins against West Alabama and Auburn University at Montgomery. She also helped Tiara Lewis notch two freshman of the week awards and Jasmine Gaines was named North Georgia Player of the Year. The Hawks also averaged 5 points more than the prior year and finished top 5 in rebounds per game.

    In just her first season as assistant coach/recruiting coordinator for the Warhawks in 2019-20, Brooks helped AUM add seven wins from their previous total in 2018-2019, average 10 more points per game and was named to the 2020 Women's Basketball Coaches Association's "Thirty Under 30" class.

    Brooks went to AUM from Snead State Community College in Boaz, Ala., where she served as the Assistant Basketball Coach and Recruiting Coordinator for two seasons. Under Brooks guidance, the Lady Parsons added 13 wins to their total in 2018-19 from 2017-18 and average 12.2 more points per game, while earning a spot in the 2019 Alabama Community College Conference Women's Basketball Tournament.

    Prior to her assistant coaching position at Snead State, Brooks served as an assistant coach for the women's basketball team at G.W. Carver High School here in Montgomery, Ala. for two seasons. While at Carver, Brooks helped lead the Lady Wolverines to two area championships, a 6A Regional Championship and an appearance in the AHSAA Women's Basketball Final Four during the 2016-17 campaign.

    Brooks played collegiately at Wallace State Community College in Hanceville, Ala. from 2009-2011, where she helped lead the Lady Lions to an Alabama Community College Conference Championship during the 2010 season. Brooks also played for two seasons at Spring Hill College, where she holds the record for most three-pointers made in a game (8). Brooks also holds the record for most three's made in a single game at Wallace State Community College (9). Brooks attended Hanceville High School in Hanceville, Ala. where she holds the school and Cullman County record for most career points scored by a female basketball player, amassing 2,715 points over her prep career.

    In addition to coaching, Brooks has excelled in the field of athletic communications and public relations. As an undergraduate, intern and professional, she has gained experience in public relations, social media campaigning and analytics, fundraising, search engine optimization, website development, event planning, and grant writing. She has expertise in working in the non-profit sector, professional sports' organizations, healthcare industries and individuals' business marketing needs for various target audiences. Brooks earned her master's degree in applied technology from Alabama State University in 2017, focusing in website design and social media. She received her bachelor's degree in communication arts from Spring Hill College in 2014, focusing in public relations and advertisement. She also holds an associate degree in education from Wallace State Community College.

  • Check-in: Monday at 8:30AM
  • Closing Ceremony: Thursday at 3:30PM
  • Meals: Lunch is not provided, please bring a packed lunch.
  • Daily Hours: MON-THURS 9AM-4PM

WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE FEE?

  • Instruction: Morning and afternoon training sessions
  • Supervision: Campers are supervised by staff during camp hours
  • Lunch: Lunch is not provided, please bring a sack lunch each day
  • Camp T-shirt & Prizes: Campers at multi-day camps will receive a Nike Basketball Camps t-shirt. *1-day clinics and fall, winter and spring camps excluded.
  • Basketballs: Basketballs are provided for instruction during camp

TEAM DISCOUNT

If you have a group of 5 or more campers registering for the same camp, each camper is eligible for a $25 discount. If you have a group of 10 or more campers registering for the same camp, each camper is eligible for a $40 discount. Please fill out the Team Discount - Basketball form with the name of your group and the names of each camper enrolling in the camp and we will create a unique discount code for your group.

INSTRUCTION & FACILITY

  • Ratio: 1:10 staff-to-camper ratio
  • Groupings: Campers are grouped by ability, age, and experience, per the Director's discretion
  • Facility: Indoor courts
  • Medical Protocol: Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital.

PRE-CAMP CHECKLIST

To view your customer account, complete your mandatory forms, pay balance dues, and review important camp information, visit Pre-Camp Checklist. All necessary camp information is on this page. If there are any imperative changes prior to camp start, registered campers will be notified via email and this webpage will be updated!

PACKING LIST

Below is a suggested list of clothes, equipment, and personal items. US Sports Camps is NOT responsible for lost or stolen articles or money.

CAMPER EVALUATION

Upon arrival, all participants are evaluated by the staff so that their own instructional needs can be addressed throughout the week. In addition, campers will be evaluated and then split up into smaller groups according to age and ability.

MEDICAL PROTOCOL

Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital.

COMPANY POLICIES

If you need to cancel for any reason up until 24 hours prior to camp check-in, you will receive a camp credit voucher for tuition fees paid that is good through the following year for any sport and is transferable to any immediate family member. Participants who DO NOT attend their registered session (no-shows for any reason) or who do not contact USSC to cancel at least 24 hours prior to camp check-in will not receive a voucher or refund. Cash refunds are given only if Cancellation Protection was purchased at the time of registration and the cancellation is made before your balance due date.

TRANSPORTATION

Transportation is not provided by the camp to or from any airports. If you are flying to or from camp, we recommend using an airport shuttle service. Please schedule flights as close as you can to the check-in times on the first day and check-out times on the last day.
