Aldo Santiago enters his 30th season as head coach of the Mount Holyoke College tennis team in 2022-23. Additionally, Santiago currently serves as the Physical Education Coordinator within the Department of Physical Education and Athletics at Mount Holyoke.

At Mount Holyoke College

  • Regarded as one of the top coaches in the northeast and has won over 250 matches as the head coach at Mount Holyoke College.
  • Has had student-athletes earn multiple NEWMAC honors, including the NEWMAC Women's Tennis Athlete of the Year in 2001.
  • His players have earned 24 NEWMAC All-Conference honors, including five following the 2006 season.
  • Three student-athletes have earned NEWMAC Women's Tennis Rookie of the Year honors under Santiago's leadership.
  • Guided the Lyons to appearances in 16 of the last 17 NEWMAC Tennis Tournaments.
  • Lyons have advanced to the tournament Semifinals in three of the last five seasons.
  • Earned ITA Northeast Region Coach of the Year honors at the conclusion of the 2004-05 season.

Before Mount Holyoke College

  • Assistant Coach for the men's tennis team at The Ohio State University.
    • Helped lead the Buckeyes to a Big Ten Championship in 1991.
    • In 1986, Santiago was an assistant coach for women's tennis team at Ohio University.

Playing Career

  • Once ranked among the top five amateur players in Puerto Rico, Santiago played tennis for four years at the University of Puerto Rico and was named Most Valuable Player in his senior season.
  • He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in physical education from Puerto Rico and his Master of Science degree in physical education from Ohio.

Santiago's players have offered instruction to young people in the local community and have conducted weekly workouts for faculty and friends. His teams travel to his home in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico during spring break most seasons.

In addition to his duties as tennis coach at Mount Holyoke, Santiago also teaches all levels of raquet sports, including tennis, badminton and squash. He is also heavily involved with Mount Holyoke's Posse Scholars Program, and serves as the Posse 3 mentor, which graduated in 2016.
