Ali Tavakol
Director of Operations
Ali Tavakol has been named the Director of Basketball Operations on Chris Acker’s staff, making the move along with Acker from San Diego State to Long Beach State. In that role, Tavakol will be responsible for all logistics of the team while also supporting video, recruiting and other day-to-day operations.
Tavakol worked with the Aztecs for throughout Acker’s time at San Diego State, working as a manager starting in 2018-19 before taking over as the head student-manager in 2019-20, and then earning a promotion to graduate assistant during prior to the 2022-23 season.
In his run with San Diego State, the Aztecs reached the NCAA tournament in four straight seasons and were 30-2 in 2019-20 prior to the COVID shutdown. In 2022-23, SDSU reached the National Championship game and advanced to the Sweet 16 in 2023-24.
Tavakol graduated from San Diego State in May 2022 with a degree in business administration with an emphasis in entrepreneurship and received his MBA from San Diego State in 2024.
