Andrea Slaven - Coach

Andrea Slaven is former 3-time All-American player and college coach. She is currently the field hockey coach at North Reading High School.

Slaven also recently built the DIS Field Hockey Club and acted as Club Director for two seasons.

From 2013-2105 Slaven was a member of the Merrimack Field Hockey coaching staff where she helped lead the Warriors to an overall record of 39-20 with two Division II Final Four appearances, including the championship game in 2015. Upon graduation from Saint Michael's College in 2009, she worked towards her Master’s in Education at Salem State University while pursuing a coaching career. After one season at Assumption College, Slaven was named the Varsity Field Hockey Coach at Manchester-Essex where she accumulated over 60 wins, three tournament appearances, two-Division II North Finals and was named the 2012 Cape Ann League Coach of the Year.

While at Saint Mikes, Slaven was a four-year starter for the Purple Knights field hockey team, setting many school records that still stand, including career points (117), games played (75), career goals (51) and goals in a single season (21). She also tops in Purple Knights’ record book in game-winning goals in a season (6) and a career (21). By Slaven’s senior season, she collected a variety of accolades in addition to being named her team’s tri-captain. The recognitions included three-time All-American (Second Team 2006; First Team 2007, 2008), ECAC Division II Player of the Year (2007), Northeast-10 Player of the Year (2007), Northeast-10 First Team All Conference (2007, 2008) and the Saint Michael’s College Woman of the Year (2009). Slaven was most recently inducted into the Saint Michael's College Hall of Fame in 2015, and the Bishop Fenwick High School Hall of Fame in 2017.
