Andrew Lum joined the Pacific Lutheran University Athletic Department in the summer of 2022 as the Lutes' Head Coach for the men's and women's swimming programs.

Lum heads to Luteville with 10 years of combined experience at the NCAA Division III level as a student-athlete and coach. Lum spent the last three seasons at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse as an assistant coach. During that time, Lum helped the women’s program win the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship in 2022 and 2020, coaching 11 individual conference champions and six relay champions. His stint with the Eagles included success in the classroom with the women’s team boasting a program record 3.74 grade point average and the men recording a 3.41 GPA.

Prior to UWL, Lum spent two seasons at California Institute of Technology as an assistant coach. While with the Beavers, Lum helped the program break over 20 school records, net three Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Champions, and one Honorable Mention All-American. His tenure at Caltech included winning the SCIAC Coaching Staff of the Year Award in 2018.

Lum began his collegiate coaching career as an assistant for the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh during the 2016-2017 season.

No stranger to the Northwest Conference, Lum was a swimmer for four years at rival Willamette University. Lum was the Bearcat Rookie of the Year in 2013. A leader on campus, Lum worked as an admissions ambassador, was the President of the NWC and Willamette Student-Athlete Advisory Committees, and was the recipient of the NCAA Division III Ethnic Minority Student Grant in 2015.

Lum graduated from Willamette in 2016 with a degree in exercise science and a minor in Chinese studies. He earned a master’s degree in intercollegiate athletic leadership from the University of Washington in 2019.
