Andy Kohel
Camp Director
Andy Kohel brings proven success and elite coaching experience to Carroll University’s men’s soccer program. A USSF ‘B’ License holder, Kohel has a strong track record of developing players and building competitive teams at the NCAA Division III level.
In his first season leading the Pioneers, Kohel guided the team to one of its best finishes in a decade—recording nine wins, the most in 10 years, and earning a CCIW Tournament berth as the No. 3 seed, which included hosting a quarterfinal match. Under his leadership, two players earned All-Region honors, four were named All-Conference, and four received CSC Academic All-District recognition.
Kohel’s coaching journey spans five years as a head coach at the NCAA Division III level, including roles at Concordia-Moorhead and Johnson & Wales, where he helped transition the program from NAIA to NCAA competition. He also served as head coach for St. Croix Legends (USL League Two) and has extensive experience in youth development through Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association and Colorado Rush Soccer Club as part of the U.S. Development Academy.
Before his head coaching roles, Kohel spent eight years as an assistant at Colorado College and his alma mater, UW-Oshkosh, helping teams compile an impressive 89-28-20 record and mentoring six All-Americans and five Scholar All-Americans.
As a former standout player at UW-Oshkosh, Kohel was part of the 2011 NCAA Division III Final Four team, finishing his collegiate career with a 52-16-11 record. His experience as both a player and coach gives him a unique perspective on developing athletes to reach their full potential.
Kohel is passionate about creating a competitive, supportive environment where players can grow technically, tactically, and mentally while fostering a lifelong love for the game.
