Anson Lindsey Coach Phto

Anson Lindsey is the Head Men's Volleyball Coach at Rockford University.

Anson Lindsey was hired as Rockford's head men's volleyball coach in September 2022. Coach Lindsey comes to the Regents with both collegiate coaching and playing experience, as well as a wealth of local knowledge. He becomes the second head coach in program history.

Anson's most recent coaching stops came at North Central College and Rock Valley College. While he was an assistant at North Central, Coach Lindsey was involved in all facets of the men's volleyball program, including practice planning, recruiting, fundraising and logistics. During his two years on staff, the Cardinals never finished lower than second in the CCIW standings and earned their first ever NCAA Tournament berth in 2022. North Central also had seven All-CCIW selections, four All-Region honorees and three All-American selections over that span. After leaving North Central, Anson served as an assistant coach for the women's volleyball program at Rock Valley College. There he was once again heavily involved with player development, recruiting and overseeing and executing practices.

In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Anson also has a vast amount of local volleyball connections. Over the past six years he has spent time as the head varsity boy's coach at Rockford East, the head junior varsity and freshman boy's coach at Jefferson, the head freshman girl's coach at Belvidere North, the assistant varsity girl's coach Rockford Lutheran and both a boy's and girl's club coach at VC United.

Prior to entering the collegiate coaching ranks, Anson had a very successful playing career at Clarke University. While at Clarke, the Pride made a pair of trips to the NAIA National Invitational Tournament and were ranked as high as second nationally at one point. Anson was an all-conference selection three times during his career and voted Team MVP his senior season. He was also consistently one of the best net players in the entire NAIA throughout his career. He led the NAIA in 2015 in total blocks and hitting percentage, finished first in 2014 in blocks per set, was second nationally in 2016 in total blocks and hitting percentage and finished third in the NAIA in total blocks in 2014.

Anson graduated from Clarke University in 2016 with a bachelor's degree in Psychology. He then earned his master's degree in Sport Leadership from North Central College in 2022.
