Arla Davis is a dedicated field hockey coach and sports professional with a passion for athlete development, leadership, and storytelling in athletics. She joins Goucher after serving as an Assistant Field Hockey Coach at McDaniel College, where she helps lead a Division III program by designing practice sessions, mentoring goalkeepers, building team culture, and overseeing strength and conditioning.
Alongside her collegiate coaching role, Davis is the head coach for multiple youth teams with Stateline Field Hockey Club and has extensive experience working with athletes of all ages through BRAVE Athletics and NEPA Force. Her coaching philosophy emphasizes both athletic growth and personal confidence, empowering young women to thrive on and off the field.
A former NCAA Division III student-athlete at Ithaca College, Davis was a four-year member of the varsity field hockey program, earning multiple Liberty League All-Academic honors. While at Ithaca, she was deeply involved in student-athlete leadership as SAAC Co-Chair, an ambassador for The Hidden Opponent, and a member of the Athletic Leadership Academy.
Beyond coaching, Davis has built experience in sports information and media, having contributed to athletic communications at King’s College, Cornell University, and through internships with WomenX and the Tucker Center for Research on Girls and Women in Sport. Her work has spanned game operations, live statistics, social media, and Title IX advocacy.
Davis is USA Field Hockey and NFHCA certified, SafeSport trained, and a graduate of the prestigious WeCoach NCAA Women Coaches’ Academy (Class #54). She holds a B.S. in Sports Media with a Journalism minor from Ithaca College.
