Ashley Johnson, formerly an assistant at Marist College and Wagner College, brought her expertise to UC Davis women's lacrosse in the fall of 2015. She works with all parts of the field: offense, defense, draw teams and goalkeepers

The Arvada, Colorado native starred at Mount Saint Mary's College, from which she graduated in 2010. Johnson served three seasons at another Northeast Conference program, Wagner, where she added an MBA degree. Most recently, she was an assistant coach at Marist College, member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.

Johnson assisted Marist head coach Jessica O'Brien during the 2014 and 2015 seasons. In 2014, the Red Foxes post program superlatives for most wins (14) and consecutive wins (10), while capturing their first-ever MAAC regular-season championship. A year later, Johnson guided a Marist offense that ranked first in assists (5.00), second in points (15.12) and third in goals (10.12) in the league. A total of 11 of her players made the All-MAAC teams, including one that garnered conference Rookie of the Year acclaim.

In her previous three-year stint at Wagner, Johnson recruited and/or coached seven players who rank among the school's all-time statistical categories, with three student-athletes who garnered All-NEC accolades. Additionally, 12 of her players made the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll (3.5-plus GPA) and 27 earned NEC All-Academic (3.2 or higher). Johnson's 2012 recruiting class of 12 was the largest in Wagner's history.

As a collegian, Johnson earned first-team All-NEC honors in 2008 and 2010 at midfielder and attacker, respectively. She also twice claimed NEC Player of the Week nods, and was selected as team captain as a senior. In her final year at MSM, she was selected as one of four recipients of the John M. Kolon Award as an "outstanding and dedicated athlete."
