Nickles wore the Red, White and Blue last summer, competing at the USA Softball International Cup in July ... hit .353 (6-for-17) with three runs batted in, a double, a triple and three runs scored in seven games ... also played in the Japan All-Star Series.

2018

SUMMER 2017
Won gold at the WBSC Junior Women's World Championship for the USA Softball Junior Women's National Team ... set tournament records for home runs with six and runs batted in with 30, recording 20 hits in 29 at-bats for a .690 batting average ... drove in runs in all nine games, including six in the gold medal contest against Japan ... finished fifth with the JWNT at the World Cup of Softball, leading the team with a .550 average (11-for-20), two homers, 10 RBI and four doubles, adding four runs ... had hits in all six of her games, including a 4-for-4, two-RBI effort against Canada.

2017
Was named All-Pac-12 Second Team and All-Pac-12 Freshman Team ... was third on the team with 36 runs scored, batting .282 with 10 home runs, 35 runs batted in, 10 doubles, 10 walks and four stolen bases ... first on the team with six hit by pitches and tied for second with two sacrifice flies ... tied for ninth among Pac-12 players in hit by pitches ... had 14 multiple-hit games and 10 multi-RBI contests ... reached base in her first 14 career contests and had a 12-game hitting streak (team longest) from Feb. 11-24, batting .447 (17-for-38) with two homers, 10 RBI and 12 runs ... was 2-for-9 (.222) at the WCWS, recording a single against #13-seed LSU (June 1) and a single and run versus #9-seed Texas A&M (June 3) ... was 2-for-8 (.250) in the L.A. Super Regional (May 25-26) against Ole Miss, recording two hits in game one, including a game-tying, two-run double in the 10th inning ... went 4-for-8 (.500) with three RBI at the L.A. Regional, posting a sacrifice fly against Lehigh (May 19), a single, a double and a run versus San Jose State (May 20) and a two-run double, a single and a walk against Cal State Fullerton (May 21) ... had hits in all three games at #22 Arizona State (May 11-13), going 5-for-10 (.500) ... had three hits, including a solo homer, on May 12 ... hit a three-run homer to end the May 5 win against #3 Arizona ... went 4-for-9 (.444) with five RBI and four runs in the series against #22 California (April 21-23) ... drove in a pair on a single in game one and hit a pair of homers for the first time in her career in game three, driving in three ... had three hits in the Oregon State series (April 14-15), going 2-for-3 with a three-run homer in the final contest ... recorded two-hit contests in the last two games of the series at #8 Washington (March 31-April 2), scoring at least one run in all three matchups ... had two doubles in game two ... posted three RBI on a two-run homer and an RBI double in game three ... hit a solo homer on March 12 against Texas ... had a two-run homer versus Boston University (March 11) ... had a pair of singles, a walk and a run at Cal State Fullerton (March 4) ... was 2-for-2 with an RBI and two runs scored against #22 Notre Dame (Feb. 12) ... was 4-for-6 in a doubleheader against Weber State on Feb. 11, posting two hits, a homer, two RBI and two runs in game one and two hits, a homer, three RBI and three runs in game two.

SUMMER 2015/2016
Spent the summer of 2015 with the U.S. Junior Women's National Team and the summer of 2016 with the USA Elite Team ... in '15, played in 14 games at the World Cup of Softball and World Championships, posting a homer, 14 RBI and six walks and winning gold at the World Championships ... in 2016, finished fourth at the World Cup, going 3-for-6 (.500) with a homer and three RBI.

MERCED HIGH SCHOOL
Nickles was a four-year starter at pitcher and shortstop at Merced High School in Merced, Calif. ... was named the Gatorade National Softball Player of the Year and Gatorade California State POY as a senior ... was also named a First Team All-American by MaxPreps, USA Today and FloSoftball ... earned Cal-Hi Sports Large School and Merced Sun-Star POY honors and was the Central California Conference Most Valuable Player for the third time (also as a freshman and sophomore) ... hit .552 with eight home runs, 27 runs batted in, 20 doubles, seven stolen bases and zero strikeouts, while going 19-5 with a 0.50 earned run average, nine shutouts, three no-hitters, one perfect game and 308 strikeouts (third in the state of California) in 167 1/3 innings ... helped the Bears to their fourth-straight league title in 2016 and a semifinal showing in the SacJoaquin Section playoffs ... as a junior, was a First Team FloSoftball All-American and a Second Team MaxPreps and USA Today All-American, as well as CCC Pitcher of the Year ... hit .526 with eight homers, 46 RBI and 16 doubles, while going 22-6 in the circle with a 1.18 ERA, 11 shutouts, five no-hitters and 287 strikeouts in 178 2/3 innings ... was a four-time CCC All-Academic selection, Merced Sun-Star POY and team MVP, as well as a three-time Modesto Bee All-District honoree ... career hitting stats: .487 average, 25 homers, 134 RBI, 56 doubles ... career pitching stats: 67-12, 1.05 ERA, 31 shutouts, 11 no-hitters, 809 strikeouts, 524 2/3 innings ... coached by Bart McAfee ... played travel ball with All-American Sports Academy under coaches Bryan Merrida, Greg Howard and Rob Diggle ... was a PGF High School All-American as a senior ... helped AASA to a fifth-place showing at the 2016 PGF National Championship and titles in the '14 and '15 PGF NorCal Challenge.

PERSONAL
Born Madilyn Ida-Marie Nickles in Merced, Calif. ... parents are Natalie and Ted Nickles ... has an older sister, Breanna ... chose to attend UCLA because of how prestigious the academic and athletic programs are ... says the number one reason she competes in softball is the adrenaline rush she gets when the sport puts her in very intense situations ... favorites include the TV show "The Middle", track star Lolo Jones, singer Kenny Chesney and actor Tom Hanks ... biggest athletic thrill was winning gold with Team USA as a member of the 2015 JWNT ... hobbies include working out and napping ... majoring in sociology.
