Camilla Hafoka

Camilla Hafoka is the Head Volleyball Coach at Utah Tech.

After two seasons serving as an assistant coach, Camilla Hafoka wrapped up her third season as head coach of the Utah Tech Volleyball program in 2023.

During her time on the Trailblazer sidelines, Coach Hafoka helped lead the Trailblazers to a 49-45 overall record. In her first season as an assistant coach in 2019, the program played to a 20-8 overall record in the program’s final year of NCAA Division II competition.

In spring of 2021, Hafoka helped guide the team to a 9-8 overall mark in its debut NCAA Division I season, which included an 8-8 mark (t-4th) in its first season in the Western Athletic Conference, which was followed by an 11-12 record (5-9 WAC) during the 2022 campaign.

This past season saw the Trailblazers post a 9-17 mark and a 5-11 finish in the WAC to finish ninth in the conference in 2023. Freshman outside hitter Adee Butler was named to the WAC All-Freshman Team while three Trailblazers, Taela Laufiso, Kennedi Knudsen & Emma Ricks, were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team.

Coach Hafoka played collegiately at Oregon State, where she played for former Olympic Volleyball Coach Terry Liskevych. She was a four-year starting setter for the Beavers and was an academic all PAC-10 pick, while she closed her four-year career fifth in OSU history in assists (3,085) and 24th all-time in digs (759).

Following her graduation from OSU, she returned to her native Hawai’i to serve as a volunteer assistant coach at BYU-Hawaii under legendary coach Wilfred Navalta, and she helped lead BYU-H to a 2010 PacWest conference championship and an NCAA Regionals appearance.

The following year Hafoka was named head volleyball coach at her alma mater, Kahuku High School, where she won a conference and OIA crown, and placed third at the state tournament. She was named coach of the year for OIA, and mentored future University of Utah standout Adora Anae and University of Arizona All-American setter Penina Snuka.

In 2012, Hafoka returned to BYU-H as an assistant coach and helped guide the Seasiders to another PacWest title, along with an NCAA West Regional championship and an NCAA Division II national runner-up finish. While at BYU-H, she coached D-II All-Americans Stella Chen (setter) and Michelle Chen (outside hitter).

Hafoka spent four seasons on the Seasider sideline before returning to the mainland with her husband, first relocating to Pullman, Wash., where she provided instruction at numerous Washington State volleyball camps.

Camilla and her husband Moana, who is an assistant professor of criminal justice at Utah Tech, are parents of two children - Lucy and Kesi.
