Chris Delaney Si

Director Chris Delaney has been coaching baseball and running camps for 14 years of his life, and always looking for ways to take his passion for the game of baseball and infuse it into all players he has come into contact with over the years.

He has coached Baseball at the High School level and little league level.Delaney also spent time coaching all levels of football at Saint Ignatius from 2004-2009. He has a knack for placing passion on pride as he moves to preach about the process of improving is the staple of gaining confidence to perform. “Having Fun Getting It Done,” is a mantra that he loves to say as it gives a foundation of working hard is fun and fun is working hard- got to love the process to improve.

Delaney attended George Washington High School here in San Francisco, where he played 4 years of Varsity Baseball and Football. He earned AAA All-City honors all four years for Baseball and two for Football. In 1997, during Delaney’s senior year, he earned the Most Valuable AAA Player award for baseball. While at George Washington High School, he was lucky enough to play for a coach named Joe Gualco (SI ’63). Coach Gualco made the game of baseball simple for Delaney with his famous words, “Delaney you gotta keep the game simple, so use the K.I.S.S Method: Keep It Simple Stupid.” After graduating from George Washington, Delaney attended College of San Mateo where he played for Coach Doug Williams from 1997-1999.

In 1999 Delaney then transferred to Skyline College where he played for Dino Nomicos (SI ’80), and John Quintel, who is Chris’s Hitting Mentor. Not only did Delaney receive his Associates of Arts Degree from Skyline Junior College, but he was also selected for Second Team All League CCAA during the 2000 baseball season.

Delaney matriculated to San Francisco State University where he played for Dave Nakama in 2001 and Matt Markovich in 2002. Coach Delaney received his B.A. in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Recreation in 2002 from San Francisco State University.

In March 2011, Chris Delaney was inducted into the San Francisco Prep Hall of Fame for Baseball and Football. This is not what makes him a good coach, at all, Delaney is a student of the game and believes in teaching fundamentals, hard-work, having love of the game, belief in God, and caring for the player as an individual to become the best possible player that they can be.
