David Kelly has been involved in college soccer coaching for over twenty-five years, including three years as a D1 Head Coach.

Kelly has also served as the head coach of the Connecticut Football Club - AZUL, which competed in the Premier Development League and plays their home games on the CCSU Soccer Field. He coached the CFC United team to a 2015 Connecticut Junior Soccer Association State Cup title to advance to the U.S. Soccer Region 1 Championships.

Kelly is a staff instructor for the Connecticut State Coaching Education Program. He was also a former head coach with the Olympic Development Program.

Kelly has also coached at Quinnipiac (2004) and Trinity College (2001-03) helping each of those teams qualify for their conference tournaments.

Kelly played 10 years of professional soccer. He spent nine years in the A-League (now the USL Division I) Professional Soccer League and one in the National Professional Soccer League, while also making reserve appearances for both Carlisle United and Burnley in England. During his time in the A-League, Kelly was also a player-assistant coach with the Connecticut Wolves.

Kelly played at the University of Maine from 1986-90 and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in history in 1990. He holds “A,” “Pro-B” and “National Youth” coaching licenses from the United States Soccer Federation and the “Advanced National Diploma” from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

Kelly lives in West Hartford with his wife Trish and daughters, Áine and Isla.
