Dean Mlachnik joins the UW-Parkside women's basketball staff prior to the 2014-2015 season as an assistant coach and brings a wealth of experience coaching baseball and basketball at the high school level.

Mlachnik served in various coaching capacities with the Milwaukee Pius XI High School, serving as the freshman girls basketball coach for four years, as a varsity assistant and freshman coach for boys basketball for five years and as a varsity assistant and junior varsity coach for the boys basketball team for seven years. He additionally served as a varsity assistant and junior varsity coach at Catholic Memorial High School for seven years, compiling a 112-8 record as the junior varsity coach.


On the baseball diamond, Mlachnik has 30 years of high school coaching experience and currently is in his third season as the head coach at West Allis Central High School. Mlachnik was named the 2013 Greater Metro Conference Coach of the Year nad has coached at the WBCA All-Star Game and Team Wisconsin at the Zip Code Games. Prior to the head coaching role, Mlachnik served six years as an assistant at Menomonee Falls High School. He coached 12 seasons at Thomas More High School, making nine appearances at the State Championships including a State Championship in 1996 and was the head varsity coach at Catholic Memorial for nine seasons, securing Classic 8 Conference Coach of the Year honors in 1998.

His coaching resume additionally includes 10 years coaching basketball at the grade school level, four years as a volleyball coach at Franklin High School and a stint running the Muskego youth football program.

A three-sport athlete at Waukesha Catholic Memorial High School (football, basketball and baseball), Mlachnik continued his playing career as both a basketball and baseball player at Waukesha County Technical College. He was inducted into the USFTFL (United States Flag & Touch Football League) Hall of Fame in 2010.

Mlachnik resides in Muskego with his wife Marie and has four children and five grandchildren.
