Coach Derek Johnson has been coaching varsity boys and girls basketball at Lake Ridge Middle School for the last 3 seasons and now joins Woodbridge High School as the JV coach.
He has been teaching 8th grade PE, and Language Arts for 5 years at Lake Ridge after teaching seniors for one year in New York. Johnson has also helped coach distance running for the Lake Ridge track team for the last 2 seasons. Johnson has experience playing high school varsity basketball and playing in multiple leagues throughout college. Through his playing and coaching experience, he was able to craft a winning culture at Lake Ridge Middle School focusing on developing the necessary skills and reads to play at a high level.
