Jacy Dyer
Jacy Dyer was named the Head Coach of the Fairfield University men's and women's swimming and diving programs in August, 2022.
Dyer served as the associate head coach at Virginia Tech during the 2021-22 season after spending the previous three years as an assistant coach. She also coordinated all recruiting efforts for the Hokies women’s program during her time on the Blacksburg campus. As the associate head coach, Dyer helped the women’s program finish 23rd overall at the NCAA championships, the third highest placement in school history, and the men’s program garner 11th overall at the NCAA championships which tied for the highest ranking in school annals.
As an assistant coach, Dyer helped develop swimmers who went on to qualify for U.S. Junior World Championships, the World University Games, as well as the Olympics. She worked with the mid distance and distance swimmers by developing and implementing season training programs that led to school record-breaking performance throughout her four years with the team.
Before arriving at Virginia Tech, Dyer spent four campaigns as an assistant coach at James Madison University, a tenure which was highlighted by the program’s 2018 Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) championship. During that championship run, the Dukes captured nine individual medals and the 200 free relay title. Her tutelage also resulted in 20 individual and seven relay medals through her first three seasons as an assistant coach.
Dyer also gained experience as a member of the University of Toledo coaching staff, helping lead her alma mater to the 2012 Mid-American Conference (MAC) Championship. She was part of the coaching staff for three seasons where she guided two student-athletes to the NCAA Championships and one to All-America accolades.
As a student-athlete at Toledo, Dyer qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 1650 free, the 500 free, and the 200 free. She went on to earn a world ranking of 38th in the 1650 free. She was also an Olympic Trails qualifier in 400 and 800 free in 2012. She was named the MAC swimmer of the year in 2010 and collected 16 medals at the MAC Championships over her four-year career which included 10 gold, three silver, and three bronze. Her accomplishments in the classroom were also acknowledged as the recipient of the MAC Scholar Athlete of the Year award.
Dyer was recognized for her achievements as a student-athlete when the University inducted her into the Toledo Athletic Hall of Fame in 2017. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology in 2011.
