Katie Griffes, PhD
Assistant Coach - Hartwick College Women's Tennis

Katie Griffes joined the Hartwick Women's Tennis program part-time as an assistant coach for mental skills training in the spring of 2020.
Coach Griffes' role on the team is to support and develop mental skills to positively impact sport performance and overall sport experience, including confidence building, positive self-talk, communication, motivation, and team cohesion. Griffes played an integral part in the program's success in 2021 where they had their best season to date, making it to the first ever Empire 8 finals appearance.
Katie has extensive experience with tennis as both a player and a coach. She was a member of the Olivet College tennis team while working on her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. Post graduation, Katie worked for Nike as a summer tennis camp counselor and spent two years as head coach for the Lansing Catholic Central Women's Varsity Tennis Team. She holds a PhD in Kinesiology with a concentration in Sport Psychology from Michigan State University, and currently works as an Assistant Professor of Sport and Exercise Sciences at SUNY Oneonta.
