Dylan Sorensen

Assistant Cross County/Track & Field Coach

Dylan Sorensen - Assistant Cross County/Track & Field Coach

Assistant Cross Country/Track and Field Coach- Dylan Sorensen, a two-time steeplechase All-American and professional triathlete, was named assistant coach for men's distance runners and completed his first season, in 2018, with Sean McGorty's NCAA outdoor 5,000 title.

Besides McGorty's heroics, the men's distance track season also featured third-place NCAA outdoor finishes by Steven Fahy (3,000 steeplechase) and Grant Fisher (5,000). Fahy and Jack Keelan (10,000) also captured Pac-12 10,000-meter titles.

In his first cross country season, Stanford won its first Pac-12 championship in seven years and earned a fourth-place NCAA finish.

Three Stanford runners -- Fisher, Alex Ostberg, and Fahy -- earned All-America honors, all by placing among the top 17. These marked the first All-America honors for Ostberg and Fahy.

Fisher placed fifth at NCAA's after becoming the first Stanford runner in seven years to win a conference individual title.

Sorensen also coached Connor Lane to the U.S. junior cross country title, in February 2018. Lane went on to win the Pan Am and NACAC Under-20 championships as well.

Before coming to Stanford, Sorensen competed internationally in the triathlon while serving as an executive with Major League Triathlon, a pro-team organization.

Sorensen and Chris Miltenberg, Stanford's Franklin P. Johnson Director of Track and Field, both ran at Georgetown for longtime coach Pat Henner -- Miltenberg graduated in 2003, and Sorensen graduated in 2013 and ran an additional season while earning his master's in sports industry management.

Sorensen, a native of Zionsville, Indiana, was the 2014 Big East Conference champion in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, and captured the ECAC/IC4A title in that event. His best time was 8:47.07.
