Elliot Heath Headshot

Elliott Heath is the BTC club director, elite coach and assistant youth coach. He joined the Bowerman Track Club in 2012 as a professional athlete under Coach Jerry Schumacher. While pursuing his professional running career, Elliott started coaching the BTC Youth program with mentors Chris Cook and John Truax and helped the program grow to over 300 athletes. In addition to his work with the youth program, Heath has developed his passion for coaching as coach of the Bowerman Track Club Elite program, helping BTC’s amateur athletes pursue their post-collegiate running goals.

Heath grew up in Winona, Minnesota and won 3 state titles in XC and Track and Field. He still holds the all-time Minnesota State record for 3200m at 8:42.81. He went on to attend Stanford University where he was a 10-time All American in XC and track for the Cardinal. In 2011, Heath was the NCAA National Champion for the Indoor 3000m. Heath concluded his college running career at the Olympic Trials in 2012 with a 7th place finish in the 5k and then joined Jerry Schumacher’s professional group, which shortly thereafter became the professional component of the Bowerman Track Club. As a professional, his biggest highlight came at the World Cross Country Championships in 2013 where the US team won Silver.

As a coach, Elliott helps to foster the development of beginning youth athletes all the way through post-collegiate elites in distances ranging from 800m to Marathon.
