As a former player at UC San Diego on the highly successful women’s squad during her undergraduate career, Scheese was part of three NCAA Division III National Championship title teams in 1996, 1997 and 1999, including UCSD’s final D3 National Title in her senior year, prior to UCSD’s move to DII. As an outside left back, her record as a player at UCSD was 72-7-3.

Emily Scheese began her post as head coach of UCSC Women’s Soccer in winter of 2012. Prior to becoming the head coach, Emily served as assistant coach to the program from 2008-2012. As head coach she has guided the Slugs to three consecutive winning seasons from 2012 to 2014. She was awarded Division III Association of Independents Coach of the Year Honors in back-to-back years of 2013 and 2014. In all three years of the program under her tenure thus far, her team has garnered the NSCAA All-Academic Team Award. The team also produced three NSCAA All-West Region scholars in 2014. On the field Scheese’s players garnered many DIII Association of Independents honors on the first and second teams as well as the Defender of the Year.

Off the UCSC campus and in the community, Scheese is currently involved with player development at the competitive youth level in Santa Cruz, serving as a trainer and head coach with the Aptos Tide Soccer Club and as the Head Varsity Girls Soccer Coach at Harbor High School in the Santa Cruz County Athletic League. She directs the winter and spring skills clinics for ASC and also co-directs the summer youth Nike Soccer Camps held at UC Santa Cruz. She holds her USSF National D diploma.
