Eric Ballelos is the Graduate Assistant Women's and Men's Volleyball Coach at Menlo College.

Eric Ballelos arrives to Menlo College after previously serving at UC Riverside as an assistant volleyball coach since April 2014 following three seasons as the top assistant volleyball coach at San Francisco State.

In 2015, Ballelos helped lead the Highlanders to the third most wins in the program's Big West membership with a 10-19 record. The five conference wins were the most since UCR joined the Big West in 2002.

The 2016 season saw the Highlanders post their best neutral site record (5-3) and Maddie Hubbell, become the program's all-time digs leader. Hubbell was named All-Conference Honorable Mention, and Mickayla Sherman was selected to the All-Freshman Team.

The Daly City, CA native was a fixture on the San Francisco Bay Area prep and club volleyball coaching scene since 2007, and served as a volunteer assistant for the Gators during the 2009 and 2010 seasons before being hired on full time.

As the recruiting coordinator for SF State, Ballelos helped organize and schedule visits with potential recruits, and scout talent. He primarily worked with blocker and hitter transitions, middle hitters, and was in charge of stats and DataVolley.

San Francisco State made the NCAA Tournament in both the 2009 and 2012 seasons.

Ballelos also worked for USA Volleyball in their High Performance Program—the pipeline program to the country’s national team.

In 2013, he helped coach in the Girl’s Youth National A2 Invitation Team Program, and in December 2012 coached in the Girl's Youth Holiday Camp which featured top 50 athletes for the youth age group. In the previous summers, Ballelos worked with both the A1 and A2 Future Select programs.

An SF State alumnus, Ballelos finished his playing career with the Purple and Gold, leading the men’s club team in kills as they finished second in the Northern California Collegiate Volleyball League in the spring of 2011. The next year, he coached the team to a league championship with three players receiving all league honors along with the league MVP.

Ballelos prepped at St. Ignatius High in San Francisco and later enrolled at UC Davis where he competed on the Aggie men’s club team as a middle blocker and outside hitter. While at Davis, he also doubled as a club officer, assisting with team travel and fundraising efforts and successfully directing the UCD Boys’ High School Tournament.

Ballelos is certified through USA Volleyball’s Coaching Accreditation Program and received a Gold Medal Squared Level I credential.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in English Literature from SF State in May 2011.
